11 Vacancies Open At Office of the Ombudsman

The Commission on Administrative Justice (CAJ), established under Article 59(4) of the Kenyan Constitution and the CAJ Act 2011, seeks to fill nine positions to strengthen its mandate of addressing maladministration and promoting transparency in the public sector. Below are the details of the vacancies:


1. Chairperson – Audit and Risk Committee (CAJ/JOB/01/2025)

No. of Posts: 1
Terms of Service: Part-time (3-year term, renewable once).
Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Auditing, Economics, Law, or related field.
  • 15+ years of senior management experience in finance, risk management, or governance.
  • Membership in a recognized professional body.
  • In-depth knowledge of public sector frameworks (PFM Act, Public Audit Act, etc.).
    Duties:
  • Oversee risk management, governance, and internal controls.
  • Lead committee meetings, set agendas, and report to the Commission.
  • Monitor implementation of audit recommendations.

2. Member – Audit and Risk Committee (CAJ/JOB/02/2025)

No. of Posts: 1
Terms of Service: Part-time (3-year term, renewable once).
Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Auditing, Economics, HR, or related field.
  • 10+ years of senior management experience in reputable organizations.
  • Knowledge of public sector financial systems and legislation.
    Duties:
  • Review audit plans, compliance, and control environments.
  • Evaluate audit reports and promote ethical practices.
  • Assist the Chairperson in performance evaluations.

3. Senior Compliance Officer (CAJ/JOB/001/01/2025)

Department: Strategy, Research & Compliance
Grade: CAJ 5

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Political Science, Economics, or related field.
  • 4+ years as a Compliance Officer.
  • Certification in management and computer applications.
    Duties:
  • Monitor compliance with constitutional and statutory requirements.
  • Develop compliance strategies and prepare reports.
  • Follow up on recommended remedies for non-compliance.

4. Accountant I (CAJ/JOB/002/01/2025)

Department: Corporate Services
Grade: CAJ 6
No. of Posts: 1
Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce/Accounting/Economics.
  • CPA II certification and 4+ years as Accountant II.
  • Proficiency in accounting software.
    Duties:
  • Prepare financial statements, forecasts, and trial balances.
  • Process invoices and reconcile accounts.
  • Analyze income/expenditure data for decision-making.

5. Librarian II (CAJ/JOB/003/01/2025)

Department: Strategy, Research & Compliance
Grade: CAJ 7

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Library Studies or Information Science.
  • Computer literacy.
    Duties:
  • Manage book circulation, cataloging, and user inquiries.
  • Maintain library databases and shelve materials.

6. Planning & Strategy Officer II (CAJ/JOB/004/01/2025)

Department: Strategy, Research & Compliance
Grade: CAJ 7

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, or Mathematics.
  • Computer literacy.
    Duties:
  • Collate data for strategic plans and performance contracts.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and economic analyses.

7. Investigation Officer II (CAJ/JOB/005/01/2025)

Department: Complaints, Investigations & Legal Services
Grade: CAJ 7
No. of Posts: 2
Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Criminology, Political Science, or Sociology.
  • Computer literacy.
    Duties:
  • Interview complainants and draft investigation reports.
  • Collect evidence on maladministration cases.

8. Library Assistant II (CAJ/JOB/006/01/2025)

Department: Strategy, Research & Compliance
Grade: CAJ 8
No. of Posts: 1
Requirements:

  • Diploma in Library Studies or Information Science.
  • Computer literacy.
    Duties:
  • Assist users, register new members, and manage overdue notices.
  • Shelve books and maintain catalog systems.

9. Driver I (CAJ/JOB/007/01/2025)

Department: Corporate Services
Grade: CAJ 9
No. of Posts: 2
Requirements:

  • KCSE Grade D.
  • Valid Class BCE driving license.
  • 3+ years of experience, First Aid certification, and occupational trade test.
    Duties:
  • Ensure vehicle maintenance and safety compliance.
  • Maintain logs and report defects promptly.
