The Public Service Commission invites applications from suitably qualified individuals to fill key leadership positions at the University of Nairobi. These roles are pivotal in steering the university towards excellence in academia, research, and service delivery. 1. Vice Chancellor

Remuneration Package:

  • Basic Salary: Ksh 474,920 – Ksh 629,400 per month
  • House Allowance: Ksh 80,000 per month
  • Leave Allowance, Medical Cover, and Other Allowances: As provided by the University
  • Terms of Service: Five (5) year contract, renewable once subject to satisfactory performance

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation of the 8-Point Transformation Strategy 2025-2026, as approved by the Government of Kenya.
  • Oversee the overall management and administration of the university, ensuring efficient academic and administrative operations.
  • Act as the Accounting Officer, Ex-Officio Member of the University Council, Chairperson of the Senate, and University Management Board.
  • Ensure a conducive environment for teaching, research, and community service, maintaining discipline among staff and students.

Core Competencies:

  • Strong negotiation, communication, and team-building skills.
  • High level of emotional intelligence and strategic thinking.
  • Deep understanding of digitalization, artificial intelligence, and corporate governance.
  • Strong track record in fundraising and resource mobilization.
  • Effective time management and ability to handle multi-layered responsibilities.

2. Deputy Vice Chancellor – Academic Affairs

Remuneration Package:

  • Basic Salary: Ksh 434,720 – Ksh 580,250 per month
  • House Allowance: Ksh 80,000 per month
  • Leave Allowance, Medical Cover, and Other Allowances: As provided by the University
  • Terms of Service: Five (5) year contract, renewable once subject to satisfactory performance

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement policies for teaching, learning, innovation, and technology transfer.
  • Oversee academic programmes, including curriculum development, accreditation, and quality assurance.
  • Manage student admissions, examinations, postgraduate studies, and academic staff training.
  • Lead initiatives to integrate ICT in teaching and learning.
  • Oversee the welfare of students, governance matters, and services for students with special needs.
  • Develop strategic academic collaborations and linkages with national and international institutions.
  • Plan and implement policies on e-learning and academic quality assurance.

Core Competencies:

  • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to navigate complex organizational structures and build relationships with stakeholders.
  • High level of innovation and adaptability to emerging academic trends.
  • In-depth knowledge of corporate governance and higher education regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven experience in fundraising and resource mobilization.
