About the Role: Channel Manager – Premium Core Brands

Role Overview

As a Channel Manager, you will be responsible for developing and executing channel strategies that drive sales, optimize distribution, and enhance market penetration through premium retail and distribution channels. Your role will focus on strategy development, market analysis, and cross-functional collaboration to achieve business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Channel Strategy Development

  • Develop and implement channel strategies aligned with business objectives, market trends, and consumer behavior.
  • Identify and prioritize target channels based on market opportunity, competitive landscape, and brand positioning.
  • Define channel-specific objectives, KPIs, and performance metrics to measure success.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop integrated marketing campaigns that leverage brand and channel insights.

2. Distribution Management

  • Optimize product distribution to ensure maximum availability and visibility in target channels.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of distribution networks to identify areas for expansion or optimization.
  • Develop sales plans, targets, and forecasts to drive market share growth.

3. Channel Marketing and Promotion

  • Develop and execute channel-specific marketing and promotional campaigns to enhance brand visibility and increase sales.
  • Coordinate with marketing and creative teams to develop promotional materials and POS displays.
  • Track the effectiveness of marketing initiatives and adjust strategies as needed.

4. Market Analysis and Insights

  • Conduct market research, competitor analysis, and consumer studies to understand channel dynamics.
  • Use data analytics to identify growth opportunities and competitive advantages.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging market opportunities.

5. Budget Management

  • Develop and manage the channel budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
  • Forecast investment priorities based on strategic goals and ROI potential.
  • Optimize spending to maximize impact and efficiency.

Skills & Experience Required

  • University degree or equivalent (Postgraduate qualifications are a plus).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an FMCG commercial or customer marketing role.
  • Proven track record in field sales and customer marketing, with strong execution capabilities.
  • In-depth understanding of customer marketing fundamentals and below-the-line processes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Commercial acumen with an understanding of end-to-end business processes.
  • Performance-driven mindset with high accountability.
  • Agile and quick to respond to emerging opportunities and challenges.
  • Excellent influencing and negotiation skills in a matrix organization.
  • Resilient under pressure and high-performance expectations.
  • Strong external radar to identify market trends and regulatory changes.
