The Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA) is a State Corporation established under section 3 of the AFA Act No. 13 of 2013. The Authority is mandated to regulate the crops sector in Kenya, ensuring compliance with the regulatory framework, standards, and codes of practice. In line with its mandate, AFA is seeking to recruit qualified professionals to fill the following positions on a six-month temporary basis.
Available Positions
1. Accountant, AFA Grade 6 (2 Positions)
Job Description:
- Maintain primary books of accounts and enter data into the accounting system.
- Check and balance the petty cashbook.
- Maintain debtors, creditors, and general ledger records.
- Post budgetary commitments and prepare periodic expenditure reports.
- Maintain accounting records for research grants.
- Develop budget utilization reports.
- Implement financial recommendations from audits.
- Maintain the Fixed Assets register.
- Bill and collect revenue.
2. Office Administrator, AFA Grade 6 (5 Positions)
Job Description:
- Monitor record-keeping procedures and file movements.
- Prepare responses to routine correspondences.
- Maintain office diary and manage office protocol.
- Handle telephone calls and appointments.
- Ensure security of office records, documents, and equipment.
- Attend to visitors and clients.
- Plan and schedule meetings.
- Manage office petty cash.
3. Administration Officer, AFA Grade 6 (4 Positions)
Job Description: General Administration Duties:
- Oversee office cleanliness and disposal of waste.
- Identify office accommodation and space for staff.
- Maintain and update furniture and office equipment inventory.
- Monitor office equipment and materials.
- Facilitate renewal of insurance policies.
- Manage transport and logistics.
Records Management Duties:
- Ensure security of documents, files, and office equipment.
- Oversee the registry and maintain personnel records.
- Control the opening and classification of files.
- Ensure proper mail receipt and dispatch procedures.
- Digitize and archive documents for circulation.
4. ICT Officer, AFA Grade 6 (2 Positions)
Job Description:
- Write and test simple computer programs.
- Install and configure computer systems.
- Provide user support and training.
- Monitor the performance of ICT equipment.
- Maintain Local Area Network components.
- Update and maintain the Authority’s website.
5. Research and Statistics Officer, AFA Grade 6 (1 Position)
Job Description:
- Design questionnaires and data collection instruments.
- Edit and analyze statistical data.
- Maintain statistical registers and checklists.
- Present and disseminate statistical reports.
- Update databases on official statistics.
6. Legal Officer, AFA Grade 6 (1 Position)
Job Description:
- Review documentation and verify case files.
- Liaise with external advocates on legal matters.
- Draft contracts and legal agreements.
- Attend court hearings.
- Conduct legal research on applicable laws.
7. Supply Chain Officer, AFA Grade 6 (1 Position)
Job Description:
- Undertake market surveys to ensure value for money.
- Maintain and update a list of prequalified suppliers.
- Implement procurement and disposal plans.
- Liaise with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
- Ensure the safe custody of procurement records.
8. Internal Auditor, AFA Grade 6 (2 Positions)
Job Description:
- Review internal controls, policies, and procedures.
- Conduct stock-takes and surprise checks.
- Prepare audit reports and investigate financial discrepancies.
- Verify company assets and financial documents.
9. Corporate Communication Officer, AFA Grade 6 (1 Position)
Job Description:
- Draft press releases and media statements.
- Organize events and manage media relations.
- Monitor media coverage on agriculture-related issues.
- Conduct customer satisfaction surveys.
- Prepare publicity materials and stakeholder reports.
10. Human Resource Officer, AFA Grade 6 (1 Position)
Job Description:
- Draft HR reports and correspondence.
- Assist in recruitment and onboarding processes.
- Maintain HR information systems.
- Process salaries, allowances, and benefits.
- Administer performance appraisals and training programs.
11. Senior Assistant Legal Officer II, AFA Grade 8 (1 Position)
Job Description:
- Organize and maintain legal files and documents.
- Handle filing of pleadings in courts.
- Process legal correspondence and ensure document security.
12. Senior Assistant Supply Chain Officer II, AFA Grade 8 (2 Positions)
Job Description:
- Conduct market surveys and supplier prequalification.
- Manage procurement records and item issuance.
- Ensure timely delivery of procured goods.
13. Senior Assistant Administration Officer II, AFA Grade 8 (4 Positions)
Job Description:
- Manage office transport and asset utilization.
- Process payments for utilities and services.
- Supervise outsourced administration services.
14. Senior Customer Care Assistant II, AFA Grade 8 (1 Position)
Job Description:
- Manage reception and guide visitors.
- Maintain office security and visitor logs.
- Handle customer complaints and inquiries.
- Ensure tidiness of the reception area.
15. Senior Assistant Accountant II, AFA Grade 8 (1 Position)
Job Description:
- Prepare vouchers and manage financial transactions.
- Maintain financial records such as cash books and ledgers.
- Process payments, bank deposits, and reconciliations.
16. Drivers II, AFA Grade 9 (3 Positions)
Job Description:
- Drive and maintain assigned vehicles.
- Conduct routine vehicle checks.
- Ensure the security and safety of passengers and goods.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness.
