Vacancies at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC)
1. Chairperson of the IEBC (Ref. SP/IEBC/1/2025) – 1 Vacancy
The Chairperson of the IEBC is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction to the Commission, ensuring the credibility, integrity, and efficiency of the electoral process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and guide the Commission’s functions and operations.
- Ensure free, fair, and transparent elections.
- Manage the electoral process in compliance with legal frameworks.
- Foster public trust and confidence in the Commission.
- Work closely with political stakeholders, government bodies, and civil society organizations.
- Represent the Commission at national and international forums.
Eligibility Criteria:
To qualify for this role, applicants must meet the constitutional requirements, including having at least 15 years of experience as a superior court judge, a distinguished academic, a legal practitioner, or relevant legal experience.
2. Member of the IEBC (Ref. SP/IEBC/2/2025) – 6 Vacancies
Members of the IEBC will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of the electoral process and implementing policies that promote credible elections.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in policy formulation and decision-making processes within the Commission.
- Oversee the planning, execution, and management of electoral processes.
- Ensure adherence to constitutional provisions and legal frameworks governing elections.
- Conduct voter education and promote public awareness of electoral processes.
- Engage with stakeholders to foster public confidence in the Commission’s activities.
Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must hold a degree from a recognized university and have at least 10 years of experience in electoral matters, management, finance, governance, public administration, law, information and communication technology, or accounting.
