Job Purpose
The Head of Operations will oversee the hospital’s support services, including biomedical engineering, facilities management, and supply chain. This role is critical in ensuring seamless, safe, and effective hospital operations, aligning processes with the hospital’s strategic objectives. The selected candidate will work closely with senior leadership to develop, implement, and optimize operational strategies, maintaining high standards of service delivery and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership & Strategy
- Lead and manage hospital operations in support services, biomedical engineering, facilities management, and supply chain.
- Develop and implement strategic operational plans to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Align operational strategies with hospital goals and mission.
- Provide leadership and direction to department heads, ensuring staff motivation, development, and engagement.
2. Biomedical Engineering
- Oversee the maintenance, repair, and safe operation of all medical equipment in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Ensure biomedical engineering staff are adequately trained.
- Develop and manage equipment lifecycle, including procurement and budgeting.
3. Facilities Management
- Maintain hospital infrastructure to ensure a safe, clean, and functional environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
- Oversee building operations, including utilities, housekeeping, security, and general maintenance.
- Implement strategies to improve energy efficiency, environmental sustainability, and health & safety standards.
4. Supply Chain Management
- Oversee all aspects of procurement, inventory management, logistics, and vendor relations.
- Ensure timely, cost-effective, and quality-driven supply chain solutions.
- Negotiate contracts and ensure compliance with service agreements.
5. Support Services
- Manage support functions, including Security, Catering, and Housekeeping, to enhance service delivery and patient outcomes.
6. Financial Oversight
- Manage departmental budgets effectively, ensuring cost containment and optimal resource utilization.
- Analyze operational costs and implement strategies to enhance efficiency.
- Provide regular reports on operational performance, budget status, and key project outcomes.
- Plan and manage space, functional requirements, and renovation/construction projects.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: At least 10 years of experience, with a minimum of 5 years at a senior level in hospital operations or healthcare management, focusing on support services, biomedical engineering, facilities, and supply chain management.
- Desirable: Experience working in hospitals with national and international accreditations.
