Consultant Clinical Pathologist

Job Purpose: The overall purpose of this job is to provide clinical pathology services as well as technical, operational and administrative support in the pathology department.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Performing clinical related duties within the scope of clinical pathology including running hematology clinics as well as procedures
- Strategy, policy and processes implementation -Providing clinical leadership and direction in the development and implementation of effective pathology and laboratory strategies, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the regulatory bodies and ensure sustainable growth of the pathology department.
- Advancing the research agenda of the hospital through development of clinician scientists working within the context of department and interdisciplinary thematic areas of focus and providing an environment of opportunity for all staff to be engaged in research.
- Fostering the growth of patient volumes, in line with the annual budgets, through a focused delivery of high quality care and patient-sensitive service that meets or exceeds the expectations of patients.
- Leading the development of new services and initiatives that contribute to the financial sustainability of the hospital.
- Ensuring the development and application of clinical quality management methods within the department, including practice guidelines and audits.
- Fostering good relations with stakeholders with the goal of stimulating patient referrals to AAR hospital-based physicians.
- Working with colleagues across the AAR hospital to ensure that opportunities for collaboration are maximized and that academic and clinical services are delivered in the most efficient and cost-effective way.
- Ensuring the productive and cost-effective use of human, material and capital resources entrusted to the department.
Qualifications
Education
- Master of Medicine or equivalent qualification in Clinical Pathology from a recognized institution
- Bachelor Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery.
Experience
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar position after specialist recognition.
