Job Summary
The Qualitative Researcher will play a pivotal role in a PhD project titled “Addressing Diagnostic Challenges in Paediatric Rheumatology in Kenya.”
The role will involve assisting with the design and implementation of focus group discussions (FGDs), collecting qualitative data, and analyzing findings to provide insights on diagnostic challenges faced in pediatric rheumatology. This researcher will also assist in the synthesis and reporting of the findings in line with project objectives.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in qualitative research methods, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex findings clearly.
Responsibilities
The moderator will:
• Design and implement focus group discussions to collect qualitative data aligned with the research objectives.
• Analyze and synthesize findings to identify key themes and insights.
• Ensure that all activities adhere to ethical research standards.
• Collaborate with the research team to disseminate findings effectively.
Deliverables:
• Inception report detailing FGD plans and protocols.
• Recorded and transcribed FGD sessions.
• Preliminary findings report with key themes and insights.
• Final report summarizing qualitative findings and their implications.
Requirements
• Master’s degree or equivalent in Social Sciences, Public Health, Anthropology, Sociology, or a related field.
• Certification in qualitative research methodologies (e.g., focus groups, interviews) is highly desirable.
• At least 2-3 years of experience in qualitative research, ideally in healthcare, public health, or social sciences.
• Experience in conducting and analyzing focus group discussions, particularly in a healthcare or pediatric setting, is a significant advantage.
