The Africa Enterprise Challenge Fund (AECF) is looking for a Research Analyst Intern to join our team in Kenya. About the Role
As a Research Analyst Intern, you will play a key role in supporting AECF’s research initiatives by conducting market analyses, gathering data, and generating insights to inform strategic interventions. Your work will help shape AECF’s programs, ensuring that our interventions drive sustainable and impactful change across multiple sectors.
Key Responsibilities
1. Research and Knowledge Management
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative research on investment trends, impact investing, and innovative financing mechanisms in sub-Saharan Africa.
- Support the development of research outputs, including briefs, case studies, and reports, that contribute to AECF’s knowledge management objectives.
- Assist in data collection and analysis related to financing strategies, private sector development, and economic growth in Africa.
- Contribute to AECF’s repository of research materials, ensuring that relevant documents and insights are well-organized and accessible.
2. Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with program teams to integrate research findings into program design and execution.
- Build strong partnerships with research institutions, donors, and stakeholders to foster knowledge-sharing and collaborative efforts.
- Represent AECF at workshops, conferences, and stakeholder meetings to share research insights and findings.
3. Administrative and Logistical Support
- Assist in coordinating logistics for research-related workshops, training sessions, and conferences.
- Provide event organization support, including managing invitations, participant registration, and liaising with speakers and attendees.
What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications and Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in Economics, Development Studies, Statistics, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in research, data analysis, and impact evaluation, preferably within development programs.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools such as SPSS, Stata, R, or similar software.
- Strong understanding of development challenges in sub-Saharan Africa, with a focus on agriculture, renewable energy, climate change, or gender inclusion being an advantage.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex data and insights clearly.
- A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in cross-cultural and multi-disciplinary teams.
