We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our team in Nairobi as a Senior Officer – ESG.


Position: Senior Officer – ESG

Location: Head Office, Nairobi
Reporting to: Regional Head of ESG

Role Purpose

The Senior Officer – ESG will be responsible for advancing the organization’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) agenda as part of its transformative sustainability journey. The role entails developing and operationalizing ESG principles within corporate strategies, ensuring compliance with mandatory ESG reporting requirements, and fostering a culture of sustainability. The incumbent will work closely with multiple entities to drive ESG initiatives, enhance transparency, mitigate risks, and unlock ESG opportunities to create a measurable impact across environmental stewardship, social equity, and governance excellence.


Key Responsibilities

1. ESG Strategy Development & Execution

  • Collaborate with the Regional Head of ESG to develop a comprehensive group ESG strategy aligned with corporate objectives.
  • Develop a scalable ESG implementation framework while ensuring consistency across different entities.
  • Translate regulatory ESG reporting requirements into actionable plans for various entities.
  • Benchmark Jubilee Holdings Limited’s ESG performance against industry standards to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Represent the Group in forums such as NZIA, UN, and regional associations.

2. Operational Implementation & Cross-Entity Coordination

  • Drive ESG initiatives across Jubilee Insurance in alignment with the developed ESG strategy.
  • Facilitate regular forums for ESG discussions, ensuring alignment across different entities.
  • Support the execution of ESG initiatives, ensuring timely implementation and adherence to quality standards.
  • Collaborate with entity CEOs and senior leaders to integrate ESG considerations into decision-making processes.
  • Oversee the deployment of ESG tools and resources to enhance efficiency.
  • Act as a central coordinator in resolving operational bottlenecks and maintaining ESG priorities across hierarchical levels.

3. Data Management, Reporting & Compliance

  • Implement an effective data collection system to capture ESG metrics such as emissions, community impact, and governance adherence.
  • Analyze datasets to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, providing insights to the Regional Head of ESG.
  • Prepare high-quality ESG reports for various stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with mandatory ESG disclosure requirements.
  • Work with Risk and Compliance teams to integrate ESG risks into the risk matrix.
  • Utilize data visualization tools to create dashboards for ESG reporting.

4. Stakeholder Engagement & Organizational Transformation

  • Develop and execute ESG training and awareness programs for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with procurement teams to establish sustainable supply chain policies.
  • Address ESG-related queries and engage with employees, regulators, and community partners.
  • Work closely with HR to embed Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) principles into ESG initiatives.
  • Gather stakeholder feedback and incorporate it into ESG strategies to ensure tangible impact.
  • Train Sustainability Champions within each entity to support various ESG activities.
  • Promote ESG principles through employee engagement activities such as waste reduction drives and green challenges.

5. Innovation, Advocacy & Sustainable Impact

  • Propose sustainability initiatives to enhance Jubilee Holdings Limited’s governance, environmental, and social footprint.
  • Conduct market research to anticipate local and international ESG trends and regulatory changes.
  • Advocate for sustainability across the organization, inspiring teams to adopt responsible business practices.
