Job Purpose and Key responsibilities
Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Underwriting Manager and operating in a highly competitive and dynamic environment
Key Responsibilities:
•Review of insurance business proposals and ensure that quotation proposals are competitively priced and terms are aligned to the respective procedure manual and rating guidelines
•Ensure that the company’s customer service benchmarks for underwriting and policy issuance are consistently achieved
•Ensure that all reinsurance treaties are accurately captured in the system and adhered to on quotations and policies
•Manage relationships with clients, intermediaries and internal departments
•Ensure that insurance business is profitable and that the profit and cost centers in the department are consistently on budget
•Ensure that the Insurance renewal business revenue budgets are achieved consistently on a monthly basis
•Provide direction, set goals and ensure that overall business goals are attained through the team under their supervision
•Plan and direct training, performance evaluations and career development to develop and retain staff under their supervision
•Assist to prepare/compile monthly and quarterly management and EXCO reports
•Attend client meetings for renewal terms and servicing items
•Implement, reviewed and revised underwriting rating guides, including commission rates
•Maintain and implement, review, and revise underwriting policies and procedures manuals
•Support audit responses and implementation of audit recommendations
•Prepare, attend, and present to the Board Audit Committee
•Lines of Business software systems owner
•Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time

Knowledge, experience and qualifications required
- Relevant degree from a recognized university
- Professional qualification in Insurance (ACII/AIIK)
- Sound knowledge and well-developed ICT skills
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills
- 5–7 years of successful general (property) insurance and reinsurance experience
