Duties and Responsibilities
The Revenue Clerks will report to designated revenue supervisors and will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Collecting Revenue: Ensure prompt and accurate collection of revenue across all county revenue streams.
- Daily Revenue Reports: Prepare and submit daily reports detailing individual collections for record-keeping and reconciliation purposes.
- Cashless Payment Enforcement: Actively check and ensure that all payments are processed through the county’s cashless revenue system to reduce leakage and enhance transparency.
- Issue Reporting: Identify and report any obstacles or incidents that may impede smooth revenue collection at any point of service.
- Trader Engagement: Create awareness among traders and business operators on the approved methods of revenue collection, especially regarding any changes in policy or technology.
- Asset and Record Management: Maintain safe custody of county revenue collection assets such as receipt books, mobile POS devices, and other records.
- Parking Guidance: Assist motorists with the registration and payment of parking fees as per the County’s parking regulations and systems.
- Invoice Preparation: Generate invoices for traders and follow up to ensure that they make payments in accordance with the County Finance Act.
- Public Relations: Establish and maintain good relationships with traders and the public to foster goodwill and portray a positive image of the County Government of Kericho.
Requirements for Appointment
To be considered for appointment to this role, applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications:
- Academic Qualification: Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a mean grade of at least C- (Minus).
- Technical Competency: A certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution.
