About the Role
As the Senior Manager: Business Development – East Africa, you will play a pivotal role in implementing business development strategies that grow our market share, drive revenue, and solidify DHL’s position as the market leader in logistics across the East African region. This role is ideal for a high-performing and visionary professional who thrives in a fast-paced, customer-centric environment and is passionate about identifying and closing new business opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Business Development
- Design and execute business development plans in line with regional business strategy and financial goals.
- Deliver strategic projects that promote DHL’s brand visibility and growth across East Africa.
- Conduct in-depth market and feasibility studies to evaluate new opportunities and customer segments.
Client Acquisition and Relationship Management
- Source and qualify new business prospects through research and marketing initiatives.
- Initiate and develop high-level relationships with potential key accounts, including senior decision-makers.
- Maintain and grow a healthy sales pipeline through effective lead generation and nurturing.
- Prepare comprehensive proposals and lead negotiations to successful deal closures.
Customer Engagement and Account Management
- Conduct pre-proposal visits to understand client needs and tailor solutions.
- Partner with internal teams to deliver client-centric solutions that drive customer satisfaction and retention.
- Continuously seek innovative ways to add value to customer engagements.
Team Leadership and Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work closely with regional and local management to align strategies and ensure service excellence.
- Guide and mentor junior team members, sharing expertise and providing support on complex projects.
- Coordinate with inside sales teams and product management for seamless customer solutions.
Market Intelligence and Strategic Input
- Stay abreast of industry trends, competitive activity, and economic factors impacting logistics and supply chain operations.
- Provide market feedback and insights that inform business planning and strategy refinement.
- Collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders to shape go-to-market strategies.
