Job Description:
As a Driver within OHCHR Nairobi, you will be responsible for providing reliable and safe driving services to authorized personnel and for the delivery and collection of mail, documents, and other items. You will also be entrusted with the upkeep and maintenance of the assigned vehicle to ensure it remains in excellent working condition at all times. Your main duties and responsibilities will include:
- Transportation Duties:
- Drive OHCHR staff members, officials, visitors, and other authorized personnel to and from assigned destinations safely and punctually.
- Assist with loading and unloading luggage and materials as necessary.
- Collect and deliver mail, documents, and other items between offices, organizations, and institutions as required.
- Vehicle Maintenance and Management:
- Perform daily maintenance checks on the assigned vehicle, including oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc.
- Ensure the cleanliness and general upkeep of the vehicle, both interior and exterior.
- Arrange for minor repairs when needed and report any major technical issues to the appropriate authority immediately.
- Maintain a record of vehicle movements, daily mileage, fuel consumption, and other operational details through accurate logs.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws and regulations to ensure the safety of passengers and pedestrians.
- Observe all United Nations regulations regarding vehicle usage.
- Take appropriate security precautions while operating the vehicle to minimize risks.
- Support Services:
- Assist with logistical arrangements, including collecting travel documents or making minor purchases on behalf of the office.
- Support general office duties such as handling shipments, performing simple clerical tasks, and assisting during official events as required.
- Act as a messenger when necessary, ensuring secure and timely delivery of confidential documents.
- Administrative Support:
- Ensure that all required administrative documents such as insurance, registration, and permits are valid and up to date.
- Prepare monthly vehicle reports and submit them to the supervisor.
- Perform basic office support tasks when not driving.
