Position: HR Business Partner
Location: Headquarters, Nairobi (with 25% travel to other VF sites)

As the HR Business Partner at Victory Farms, you will serve as a strategic advisor and operational HR expert. You will work closely with department heads and managers to align human resource strategies with business goals, ensuring operational effectiveness, strong employee engagement, and a positive work culture. This role is crucial to sustaining our rapid growth while maintaining high performance and organizational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic HR Partnership and Workforce Planning
- Act as a strategic partner to Heads of Departments (HODs) and managers to align HR initiatives with business objectives.
- Lead the headcount planning and approval process, including compiling staffing needs based on business forecasts, preparing staffing proposals, and securing necessary leadership approvals.
- Conduct HR reviews with HODs and managers, analyzing staff costs—including casual labor utilization—and collaborating on workforce optimization and performance target setting.
2. Talent Acquisition and Onboarding
- Collaborate with hiring managers to identify hiring needs and create accurate, comprehensive job descriptions.
- Conduct second-level CV screening to ensure that shortlisted candidates meet quality standards.
- Support structured interview processes by developing assessments and participating in interviews when required.
- Champion the onboarding process to ensure new hires are effectively integrated and oriented into the company culture.
3. Performance Management and Employee Relations
- Lead the performance management process including setting KPIs, review timelines, and creating feedback mechanisms.
- Guide the development and implementation of performance improvement plans (PIPs), coaching initiatives, and structured career development paths for employees.
- Manage disciplinary processes by drafting show-cause letters, coordinating disciplinary hearings, and implementing outcomes in accordance with internal policies, ensuring consistency and legal compliance.
- Promote a positive workplace culture by facilitating employee engagement initiatives and hosting monthly HR-employee feedback forums.
- Serve as the first point of contact for employee relations issues, mediating conflicts and resolving grievances in a professional and fair manner.
4. HR Compliance and Policy Implementation
- Ensure adherence to local labor laws, health and safety regulations, and employment standards.
- Maintain up-to-date employee records and ensure the accuracy of data in the Human Resource Information System (HRIS).
- Regularly review and update HR policies to ensure relevance, compliance, and responsiveness to organizational needs.
- Support internal audits and HR compliance assessments as needed.
5. Learning, Development, and Organizational Culture
- Collaborate with the Learning & Development (L&D) team to ensure that employee training programs align with department goals and business objectives.
- Work with department heads to identify skill gaps and contribute to comprehensive training needs analysis.
- Lead the adoption and implementation of learning initiatives across departments.
- Be a visible ambassador of VF’s core values and drive initiatives that foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performance culture.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree in a related field is an added advantage.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in human resources, preferably as an HR Business Partner or HR Generalist in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong understanding of Kenyan labor laws and HR best practices.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- High proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret workforce data to drive decision-making.
- Proven stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and build strong relationships across all levels of the organization.
