The Economic Advantages of Readers for Near Vision (EARN Trial) is a prospective, singlemasked, parallel- group, two-arm, individually randomized controlled trial whose primary aim is to determine whether providing near-vision glasses to people of working age with presbyopia leads to increased household consumption and/or vision-related quality of life. The study seeks to recruit suitable officers to fill the below listed vacant positions, which will be based in Kisii County
Duties and Responsibilities
i. Safely transporting the research team and study materials to various field sites
ii. Ensure the team arrives on time for scheduled meetings, community engagement, and data collection activities
iii. Perform routine checks on the vehicle, including tyres, brakes, fluid levels, and general mechanical condition
iv. Advise when service is due and deliver the vehicle for service or repairs
v. Ensure the vehicle is always fueled and keep a record of all fuel refills
vi. Ensure the vehicle is always clean, well-maintained both inside and out, and ready for use
vii. Ensure that vehicle log sheets are filled out every time the vehicles are in use.
viii. Report any defects, accidents, violations, or damage
ix. Ensure that the vehicle complies with safety standards, is roadworthy, and has the necessary documentation (insurance, registration, etc)
x. Ensure that the vehicle is locked, parked safely in its designated parking slots, and keys returned to the study coordinator at the end of every trip
xi. Maintain regular communication with the study coordinator regarding transportation schedule and requirements
Minimum Requirements
i. A minimum of KCSE or an equivalent
ii. Valid driving license free
iii. Passed the suitability test for drivers
iv. Valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Kenya police
v. Willingness to live in Kisii County and travel extensively within the area
Terms of employment: These are employments on contract, renewable subject to availability of funds and performance, with a probation period of the first three (3) months. Salary is as per the KEMRI scheme of service.
