1. Safety and Security Intern – Kenya

Role Purpose:
The Safety and Security Intern will provide vital coordination support to the safety and security function within the organization. Under the direct supervision of the Operations Coordinator, the intern will assist in implementing effective safety protocols and ensure that staff and assets are well-secured throughout operational engagements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Safety and Security team in conducting routine security assessments and compiling incident reports.
  • Monitor and analyze the security environment in areas of operation and provide timely updates to the operations team.
  • Support in maintaining up-to-date security documentation and contact lists, including incident logs and communication trees.
  • Help in organizing security briefings and training for staff and visitors.
  • Contribute to the implementation of the organization’s Safety and Security Management Plan.
  • Liaise with local law enforcement and other security stakeholders to enhance operational safety.
  • Assist in travel security arrangements including movement planning, vehicle inspections, and communications tracking.
  • Maintain high standards of confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of the role.

2. Finance Intern – Kenya

Role Purpose:
The Finance Intern will play a key role in supporting the Finance Department to meet its objectives efficiently and accurately. This position will be central in processing payments and managing financial documentation for the Country Office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the processing of payments to suppliers, staff, and other stakeholders in line with financial policies.
  • Support the team in the preparation and organization of financial documents for audits and internal reviews.
  • Ensure that all financial transactions are appropriately documented and filed according to organizational procedures.
  • Assist in bank reconciliations and monitoring of account balances.
  • Track invoice payments and follow up with suppliers and internal departments as necessary.
  • Provide support in budgeting and financial reporting processes.
  • Help ensure timely and accurate data entry into the financial system.
  • Participate in periodic stock counts and verification of fixed assets as part of financial controls.

3. Project Assistant (Child Protection) – Kenya

Role Purpose:
The Project Assistant (Child Protection) will play a critical role in the successful implementation of child protection initiatives in Kakuma refugee camp. The position focuses on ensuring quality program delivery and adherence to professional standards throughout the project cycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement child protection activities in compliance with established standards and project guidelines.
  • Monitor the day-to-day implementation of the project and ensure alignment with timelines and deliverables.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date files, including beneficiary databases, reports, and other critical documents.
  • Work closely with partners, community leaders, and government agencies to coordinate project activities.
  • Conduct community sensitizations and awareness campaigns on child rights and protection.
  • Identify and respond to cases of child abuse, neglect, and exploitation, ensuring timely referrals and follow-ups.
  • Prepare and submit quality activity reports, success stories, and case studies in a timely manner.
  • Provide logistical support for training, meetings, and field visits.
  • Assist in data collection for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
  • Support the documentation of lessons learned and best practices to inform program improvements.

4. Information Technology Intern – Kenya

Role Purpose:
The IT Intern will support the Information Technology Department in Nairobi, Kenya. This role is designed for an enthusiastic and proactive individual eager to build practical skills in IT support and service delivery within a humanitarian organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide first-line technical support to staff, resolving basic hardware and software issues.
  • Assist with installation, configuration, and maintenance of IT equipment including laptops, printers, and network infrastructure.
  • Support the IT Officer in maintaining the organization’s ICT inventory records and asset tracking.
  • Ensure timely logging and tracking of IT support tickets.
  • Help manage user accounts, email configurations, and access rights across organizational platforms.
  • Assist in ensuring antivirus software is up to date and monitoring for any security breaches or irregularities.
  • Participate in IT orientation sessions for new staff and provide basic training on organizational systems.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, issues resolved, and standard procedures.
  • Provide support during virtual meetings and webinars including setup of audio/visual equipment.

5. Human Resources and Administration Intern – Kenya

Posting Date: 16/05/2025

Role Purpose:
The HR and Administration Intern will support the Human Resource and Administration Department under the supervision of the Senior HR Coordinator and dotted-line guidance from the Administration Officer. This position offers a comprehensive experience in HR operations and administrative support, equipping the intern with essential professional skills in a humanitarian environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in maintaining and updating employee files and records in both electronic and hard copy formats.
  • Support in the recruitment process including scheduling interviews, shortlisting applicants, and preparing interview documentation.
  • Assist in induction processes for new hires and ensure completion of necessary documentation.
  • Support in organizing training workshops, staff wellness activities, and team-building sessions.
  • Provide administrative assistance in document preparation, filing, and managing incoming and outgoing correspondence.
  • Help manage office supplies, ensure inventory control, and maintain cleanliness and order in workspaces.
  • Coordinate travel logistics for staff including flight bookings, accommodations, and ground transportation.
  • Participate in planning and coordination of HR events and meetings.
  • Assist in compiling HR reports and data analysis for decision-making purposes.
  • Provide support in the implementation of HR policies and procedures.
  • In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, be prepared to work outside the standard role and hours as required to support organizational response efforts.
