The Divisional Commercial Performance Manager plays a pivotal role in driving commercial performance at the divisional level. This position is central to ensuring the delivery of performance targets through effective planning, governance, execution, and resource optimization.
The job holder will report directly to the Divisional Sales Manager and interact with multiple Heads of Functions within the Commercial unit.
Key Responsibilities
1. Performance Management – Business & People
- Develop and implement robust business performance management frameworks.
- Analyze sales data and provide actionable insights into depletion and key performance drivers.
- Facilitate quality performance review meetings that lead to improved sales results.
- Provide performance tracking and forecasting reports to guide business decisions.
- Coach sales teams to enhance field execution effectiveness (SFE).
- Support and embed a culture of high performance across teams and distributors.
2. Excellence in Execution
- Ensure optimal inventory levels across the supply chain to reduce working capital and drive cost efficiency.
- Monitor and optimize salesforce productivity via retail call activities.
- Conduct periodic audits on the use of point-of-purchase (POP) materials.
- Drive excellence in the use and impact of trade marketing assets in-market.
3. Governance, Risk & Control
- Lead periodic stock take processes and manage SIT (Stock in Trade) reconciliation to minimize business exposure.
- Monitor and enforce the effective use of Distributor Management System (DMS).
- Safeguard data integrity through master data stability across the division.
- Oversee contract and purchase order lifecycle management via Coupa and other tools.
- Maintain proper records and ensure compliance with Diageo’s Code of Business Conduct.
4. Resource Management – Activities and Productivity
- Ensure all expenditures, including fleet, office, travel, and entertainment, are appropriately tracked and controlled.
- Oversee the management of below-the-line (BTL) assets and equipment (e.g., coolers) to ensure maximum utility.
- Conduct routine audits to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of resource utilization.
- Initiate and implement corrective actions where necessary to maximize return on investment (ROI).
Required Experience and Skills
- A business-related degree or equivalent is required.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in analytics, coupled with at least 2 years in a field sales role.
- Strong analytical capabilities and a keen eye for detail.
- High proficiency in data mining and experience in monitoring data quality.
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and drive alignment across functions.
