About the Role: School Chaplain (Part-Time)

As a Part-Time School Chaplain at Nova Pioneer Eldoret Girls, you will serve as a vital part of our school support system. Your primary role will be to provide pastoral care and spiritual guidance to students and staff, fostering an environment of emotional well-being and spiritual inclusivity across all faiths and beliefs.


Job Description: Key Responsibilities

You will:

  • Pastoral and Emotional Support
    • Collaborate with the Dean of Residential Life and the School Counselor to plan and deliver comprehensive student well-being services.
    • Provide one-on-one and group sessions for students, parents, and staff as needed.
    • Be a source of spiritual and emotional support in times of bereavement and other critical moments.
  • Leadership and Collaboration
    • Act as Chairperson of the Chaplain’s Committee, bringing together parents, school management, and chaplaincy to plan termly religious services.
    • Lead Sunday services, prayer meetings, and Bible study sessions. Coordinate with invited speakers and create term-based spiritual themes.
  • Faith-Inclusive Programs
    • Collaborate with the patrons of various student religious groups (Christian Union, YCS, Adventist Congregation) to organize programs tailored to each group’s beliefs.
    • Support the oversight of the Muslim student community in conjunction with designated staff.
  • Student Engagement and Leadership
    • Deliver peer leadership development programs within spiritual clubs and offer new ideas for leadership initiatives.
    • Support students in their journey of character formation and ethical leadership.
  • Communication and Community Engagement
    • Contribute to newsletters and other school publications to communicate with stakeholders about chaplaincy services.
    • Represent the chaplaincy in PTA and Parents’ Association meetings, providing updates on program offerings.
  • Administrative and Ad Hoc Responsibilities
    • Prepare a term-wise religious schedule in coordination with the Principal’s office.
    • Undertake additional responsibilities as directed by the school’s leadership team.

You Might Be the Right Fit If…

  • A Diploma or Degree in Theology or Pastoral Studies.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a school chaplaincy role or in a youth ministry with a focus on urban youth.
  • Strong knowledge of youth trends and their influence on spirituality.
  • Comfort and fluency in using technology, especially G-Suite tools (Google Docs, Sheets, etc.).
  • A flexible and adaptable mindset capable of navigating uncertainty with confidence.
  • A reputation for shaping the character and spiritual lives of young people.
  • Problem-solving abilities and a proactive attitude.
  • Exceptional listening and communication skills.
