The Christian Health Association of Kenya (CHAK) is a leading national faith-based organization coordinating Christian health services in Kenya. CHAK works with a vast network of over 500 health facilities and programs, supporting quality healthcare delivery to communities across the country. In collaboration with USAID, CHAK is implementing the Jamii Tekelezi Program (UJTP), a health initiative aimed at enhancing comprehensive HIV services, strengthening healthcare systems, and promoting self-reliance.
As part of this ongoing initiative, CHAK Secretariat is seeking dynamic, competent, and self-driven professionals to fill two key positions under the USAID Jamii Tekelezi Program. These roles are critical to the program’s success in data-driven decision-making and in strengthening HIV programming at the county level. The successful candidates will contribute meaningfully to the improvement of health outcomes through strategic implementation and capacity building.
1. Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Manager – USAID Jamii Tekelezi
Duty Station: Meru County (with occasional travel to other UJTP-supported counties)
Job Summary
The MEL Manager will lead the design, maintenance, and implementation of the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) framework for CHAK-USAID Jamii Tekelezi. This role focuses on data analytics, quality improvement, and guiding strategic decisions through effective monitoring practices. The successful candidate will support health record officers and technical teams across supported facilities, ensuring improved health outcomes through timely, accurate, and actionable data insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Support collection and reporting of MER and non-MER indicators into project and donor systems.
- Work closely with the MEL Director to implement the Performance Monitoring Plan (PMP), including tracking and dissemination of key performance indicators.
- Provide data management, analytics, and visualization expertise to facilitate strategic decision-making.
- Coordinate data quality assessments (DQAs) to identify and resolve data integrity gaps.
- Advise on digital health innovations and emerging technologies to support implementation.
- Develop and implement mentorship and transition models that promote learning and sustainability.
- Strengthen capacity of Ministry of Health (MOH) and CHAK staff in data-driven planning and decision-making.
- Collaborate with project and finance teams to monitor project budgets and expenditures.
- Build MOH S/HRIOs capacity to manage national M&E systems for HIV.
- Offer day-to-day technical guidance for all M&E operations.
Academic Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, ICT, Public Health, or related field.
- Master’s degree in Health Informatics, IT, Statistics or similar will be an added advantage.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in M&E within PEPFAR-funded programs.
- Proven ability in managing large data sets and creating systems to monitor program indicators.
Desired Skills and Knowledge
- Experience with MOH and PEPFAR M&E platforms including KHIS2, DATIM, KenyaEMR, CPIMS, NDW.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Stata, R, Tableau, and advanced Excel.
- Strong leadership and analytical skills.
- Knowledge in machine learning algorithms and health data interpretation.
- Effective communication and team collaboration capabilities.
