The Christian Health Association of Kenya (CHAK) is a leading national faith-based organization coordinating Christian health services in Kenya. CHAK works with a vast network of over 500 health facilities and programs, supporting quality healthcare delivery to communities across the country. In collaboration with USAID, CHAK is implementing the Jamii Tekelezi Program (UJTP), a health initiative aimed at enhancing comprehensive HIV services, strengthening healthcare systems, and promoting self-reliance.

As part of this ongoing initiative, CHAK Secretariat is seeking dynamic, competent, and self-driven professionals to fill two key positions under the USAID Jamii Tekelezi Program. These roles are critical to the program’s success in data-driven decision-making and in strengthening HIV programming at the county level. The successful candidates will contribute meaningfully to the improvement of health outcomes through strategic implementation and capacity building.

Temporary Programme Officer – USAID Jamii Tekelezi (Nyandarua County)

Overall Job Function
Reporting to the Service Delivery Advisor, Care and Treatment, the Temporary Programme Officer will lead technical HIV programming for the UJTP in Nyandarua County. The role focuses on delivering high-quality HIV services in coordination with the County Department of Health and ensuring that donor standards are upheld. The officer will mentor health facility teams, monitor implementation progress, support capacity building efforts, and drive stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance to health workers on HIV service delivery including HTS, TB/HIV, PMTCT, and Care & Treatment.
  • Mentor and support facility teams in alignment with national HIV/TB care standards and cervical cancer management.
  • Champion the CHAK County Mentorship and Transition (CMaT) model to build long-term sustainability.
  • Conduct supportive supervision visits jointly with county and sub-county health teams.
  • Ensure alignment with national health guidelines and systems during program implementation.
  • Monitor and report program performance using national and project-specific M&E tools.
  • Promote Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and support documentation of best practices.
  • Lead scale-up of Differentiated Service Delivery models for CCC and PMTCT services.
  • Strengthen linkages between testing points and care clinics for improved patient outcomes.
  • Monitor real-time EMR data entry at point-of-care sites.
  • Work with the MEL team for accurate quarterly and annual data reporting.
  • Participate in county-level technical working groups for HIV and TB care coordination.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Medicine or Nursing.
  • Master’s degree in a health-related field is an added advantage.
  • At least seven years of experience in HIV program implementation.
  • Must be registered with a relevant professional body with an active practice license.
  • Training in HIV/AIDS and TB management; being a trainer of trainers is a plus.
  • Advanced training in antiretroviral therapy (ART) is an added benefit.
  • Experience with KenyaEMR and comprehensive knowledge of HIV clinical care.
  • Strong organizational and mentorship skills.
  • Familiarity with the Kenya health system and proven ability to work with county-level institutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and computer literacy skills.
