The Embassy of Japan in Kenya in seeking to recruit a candidate to fill in a vacant post for a Clerk at the Japan Information & Culture Centre (JICC). The successful candidate will be required to work as part of the team at the JICC office located within the Embassy of Japan.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Must be able to communicate in English and Japanese. Those who cannot read, write or speak Japanese are not permitted.
- A relevant university degree from a recognised university
- Proficiency in computer usage especially Word and Excel
- Knowledge of social media management
- Basic website management is an added advantage.
- Should have no criminal record.
- If the applicant is a Japanese national, he/she must have been granted permanent residence and work permits in Kenya at the time of application.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with meetings and event organisation (negotiating with external organisations, taking minutes, venue set-up and clean-up)
- Assist in the organisation of human exchange programmes and various financial assistance programmes (preparing various documents, screening applications for scholarships and inbound programmes to Japan, communicating with applicants)
- Media Relations (prepare press kits, facilitate engagement with media, media monitoring, manage media database)
- Promote and manage content on the Embassy of Japan’s website & social media platforms
- Content Creation (draft flyers, brochures, pamphlets, posters and advertisements for JICC events)
- Any other duties assigned by the Head of Department

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted by the Embassy for a further interview process. These candidates will be interviewed in from late June to early July 2025. The successful candidate will be required to start working at the Embassy from August 2025 onwards, following submission of a Certificate of Good Conduct.
