Key Responsibilities

As a Sous Chef, you will support the Executive Chef in managing kitchen operations while ensuring that culinary excellence and food safety are maintained. Your core duties will include:

  • Kitchen Management: Assume the role of the Executive Chef in his absence, ensuring the smooth operation of all culinary activities.
  • Record Maintenance: Keep detailed records of food preparation and the ingredients used.
  • Supervision and Equipment Inspection: Regularly inspect food preparation areas and cooking equipment to ensure cleanliness and optimal performance.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the rest of the culinary team to deliver high-quality food and top-tier service.
  • Food Quality and Presentation: Ensure that food products are beautifully presented, prepared to the highest quality standards, and served in a timely manner.
  • Process Optimization: Suggest and help implement new procedures to improve kitchen efficiency.
  • Ingredient Management: Monitor and manage daily ingredient availability, ensuring the kitchen is always well-stocked.
  • Productivity Oversight: Evaluate kitchen productivity, balancing speed of preparation with food quality standards.
  • Standard Compliance: Guarantee adherence to food quality, preparation standards, recipes, and presentation specifications.
  • Storage and Rotation: Oversee food storage, stock rotation, and the safe disposal of leftovers.
  • Safety and Quality Standards: Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations as well as internal quality management systems.
  • Additional Duties: Take on any other responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Diploma in Food Production or Culinary Arts
  • A minimum of three (3) years of working experience
  • Experience in a culinary leadership role is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of food production skills
  • Must possess a valid food handler’s certificate
