The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has officially released the list of shortlisted candidates for its 2025 Internship Programme. This announcement follows the recent closure of the application window, which ended on 8th May 2025. Out of the numerous applications received from across the country, 546 candidates have been shortlisted for consideration for 209 available internship positions.
This internship programme is designed to provide recent graduates with hands-on work experience in the Judiciary and related sectors. With a focus on practical training, professional development, and institutional exposure, the JSC Internship Programme offers a vital entry point into public service and the legal system for young professionals.
Breakdown of the Internship Categories
The JSC Internship Programme is structured to accommodate both university degree and diploma graduates. The positions are categorized into two main streams based on academic qualifications:
- Degree Internship Programme
- Monthly Stipend: KES 25,000
- Open to graduates who have completed bachelor’s degree programmes relevant to the Judiciary’s areas of deployment.
- Diploma Internship Programme
- Monthly Stipend: KES 20,000
- Targeted at candidates who possess a recognized diploma qualification from accredited institutions.
The monthly stipend is aimed at cushioning interns against living costs during their placement and to encourage full engagement with assigned duties.
Number of Applicants and Shortlisted Candidates
The 2025 JSC Internship Programme attracted an overwhelming response from qualified individuals across the country. Following a rigorous initial screening process, the Commission has shortlisted 546 candidates. These individuals have been selected based on academic merit, relevance of qualifications, and compliance with application requirements.
With only 209 internship slots available, the competition is expected to be stiff during the interview phase. The shortlisting ratio underlines the high demand for public service internship opportunities and reflects the program’s attractiveness among job-seeking graduates.

Interview Schedule and Process
Interviews for the shortlisted candidates are scheduled to take place on 25th June 2025, between 9:00 am and 12:00 noon. The JSC has opted for a remote interviewing method to enhance efficiency and inclusivity. All interviews will be conducted via mobile phone, eliminating the need for physical attendance and reducing logistical constraints.
Candidates will be individually contacted through Short Message Service (SMS) prior to the interview date. The messages will contain instructions and further details on the interview process. This mode of communication ensures timely updates and encourages active engagement from all shortlisted individuals.
Applicants are advised to remain reachable on the contact numbers they provided during the application process and to ensure their mobile devices are operational and accessible on the interview date.
Requirements for Successful Candidates
Upon successful selection after the interview phase, interns will be required to present the following documents on appointment:
- Original National Identity Card (ID)
- Original academic certificates
- Professional qualification certificates (if applicable)
- Academic transcripts
These documents will be verified for authenticity as part of the onboarding process. The requirement emphasizes the JSC’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and credibility in public recruitment.
Failure to present the required documents may lead to disqualification and revocation of the internship offer. Therefore, candidates are urged to prepare in advance and ensure that all their credentials are in order.
Importance of the JSC Internship Programme
The JSC Internship Programme plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between academic training and the demands of the job market. It provides interns with a structured environment to apply theoretical knowledge, gain practical experience, and develop professional networks.
Additionally, the programme enhances the capacity of the Judiciary by injecting fresh ideas and youthful energy into its operations. Interns often bring technological skills, innovation, and a strong work ethic—contributing to the modernization of judicial services.
Moreover, the internship serves as a pipeline for identifying and nurturing talent for future employment within the public service sector. Many former interns have gone on to secure long-term roles in the Judiciary and other government departments.
