5 Vacancies Open At ODPP

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), pursuant to Section 13 (2) of the ODPP Act No. 2 of 2013, is mandated to appoint, control, and supervise its staff in a manner that best serves its mandate of ensuring justice and promoting the rule of law. As an independent institution, the ODPP plays a critical role in the criminal justice system in Kenya by prosecuting criminal cases on behalf of the public.

To strengthen its human resource capacity and continue to fulfill its mandate effectively, the ODPP is seeking to recruit highly competent, self-driven, and visionary individuals to fill the following vacancies. All applications must be submitted online only via the careers page on the official ODPP website at www.odpp.go.ke no later than 15th July 2025 at 5.00 PM (East African Time). Hard copy applications will not be accepted.

Below is a job description of each advertised position.

1. Prosecution Clerk IV

The Prosecution Clerk will assist legal teams with documentation and court logistics. Duties include:

  • Compiling and organizing court files and legal documents.
  • Assisting in filing legal documents with courts or tribunals.
  • Ensuring the availability of case files for hearings.
  • Updating registers and tracking court dates.
  • Liaising with investigating officers, witnesses, and other stakeholders.

2. Clerical Officer II

Clerical Officers support day-to-day administrative functions. The job includes:

  • Filing, retrieving, and updating records.
  • Receiving and dispatching mail and documents.
  • Data entry and maintenance of clerical registers.
  • Assisting in handling client inquiries at the front desk.
  • Supporting the implementation of office administrative systems.

3. Administration Officer I

The Administration Officer will oversee office operations and resource management to support ODPP departments. Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating office services such as maintenance, transport, and supplies.
  • Managing records, inventories, and office space allocations.
  • Assisting in the preparation of budgets and administrative reports.
  • Supervising support staff and ensuring efficient office procedures.
  • Facilitating compliance with administrative policies and regulations.

4. Research Officer II

The Research Officer supports policy and legal reform initiatives by providing legal and empirical research services. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting research on criminal law, prosecution trends, and emerging legal issues.
  • Preparing research reports, policy briefs, and position papers.
  • Supporting the development of prosecution guidelines and manuals.
  • Assisting in the formulation of legal reform proposals.
  • Maintaining a legal research database and monitoring relevant jurisprudence.

5. Personal Secretary II

This role entails administrative and secretarial support to mid-level and senior officers. Key tasks are:

  • Managing office communications including typing and dispatching official correspondence.
  • Organizing meetings, taking minutes, and maintaining schedules.
  • Ensuring the efficient management of office documents and records.
  • Coordinating travel and logistical arrangements.
  • Receiving visitors and handling inquiries professionally.
