Grants Manager, CSI Project
The Grants and Shared Value Manager is responsible for the design, implementation, and oversight of the KCB Foundation’s CSI grants’ portfolio. Reporting to the Senior Manager for Partnerships, the role manages the end-to-end grant lifecycle- from outreach and selection to monitoring and impact reporting, ensuring alignment with the Foundation’s mission and the KCB Group’s inclusive finance objectives. The Manager also leads fundraising for the CSI grant portfolio and supports integration of shared value across philanthropy and enterprise initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Grantmaking and Portfolio Management
- Grants Strategy and Design
- Develop and update the CSI grantmaking framework, eligibility criteria, and focus areas aligned to strategic priorities.
- Design thematic or open grant calls to support community, youth, and enterprise development goals.
- Grant Application and Intake Management
- Manage the grant application process for both unsolicited proposals from the public and referrals submitted through KCB Group branches.
- Provide clear guidelines, application materials, and technical assistance to applicants.
- Maintain a responsive, transparent, and inclusive approach to applicant engagement.
- Evaluation and Selection
- Lead the technical and financial review of grant applications, conducting due diligence and site assessments where needed.
- Coordinate review processes with internal committees, ensuring alignment with policy and funding criteria.
- Recommend grantees for approval and support contracting and onboarding.
- Disbursement and Contract Management
- Draft and manage grant agreements in collaboration with legal and finance teams.
- Oversee disbursement schedules, milestone tracking, and partner compliance.
- Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting
- Monitor grantee performance and progress against project goals.
- Work with M&E staff to gather data, document lessons learned and produce reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Risk and Compliance Oversight
- Ensure adherence to grant conditions, financial management standards, and reporting requirements.
- Identify and mitigate risks across the grant’s portfolio.
- Fundraising and Resource Mobilization
- Proposal Development and Partner Engagement
- Develop compelling funding proposals to donors and partners to expand the CSI portfolio.
- Engage with philanthropic, bilateral, and multilateral donors for co-funding and long-term partnerships.
- Donor Stewardship and Reporting
- Maintain strong relationships with funders through timely reporting, updates, and accountability processes.
- Ensure grant compliance across donor-funded projects under the CSI portfolio.
- Shared Value and Strategic Alignment
- Shared Value Integration
- Identify opportunities where CSI grants can create value for both communities and the Bank.
- Collaborate with KCB business units to align grants with enterprise goals.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Internal Alignment
- Conduct outreach and sensitization forums with regional and branch teams to enhance visibility and uptake of CSI grants.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on how to support high-quality grant referrals and community engagement.
The Person
For the above position, the successful applicant should have the following:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree gained from a recognized institution.
- Have a minimum of five (5) years Grant management
- Have at least four (4) years of experience in Project management
- Have at least three (3) years of experience in relationship management.
- Have a minimum of three (3) years of experience in Data and information analytics.
- Have at least three (3) years of experience in Stakeholder management
