We are now seeking a skilled and analytical professional to join our Finance Advisory Services team in the position of Financial Planning and Reporting Analytics Specialist, based in Nairobi. About the Finance Advisory Services Team

The Finance Advisory Services (FAS) team operates as a trusted partner to One Acre Fund’s leadership teams. The team comprises both global and country-level professionals who advise on financial strategy, budgeting, and sustainability. FAS plays a crucial role in shaping the organization’s future by leading budgeting cycles, strategic planning, and in-depth financial reporting. Our goal is to ensure that One Acre Fund remains financially sound and can maximize its impact across all its programs.

Position Overview: Financial Planning and Reporting Analytics Specialist

As a Financial Planning and Reporting Analytics Specialist, you will be instrumental in designing and implementing financial models and reports that underpin our decision-making processes. You will build systems that help drive annual budgeting, multi-year financial forecasting, and day-to-day financial reporting. In addition, you will leverage business intelligence tools and scripting languages to provide insights that support the organization’s strategic and operational needs.

You will report directly to the Global Financial Advisory Services Senior Associate and will collaborate closely with other team members, both in-country and globally.

This role is based in Nairobi, Kenya, and is only open to Kenyan citizens or permanent residents.

Key Responsibilities

1. Create Financial Models and Manage Data Systems

  • Design and build dynamic financial models to support:
    • Annual budgeting processes
    • Long-term financial forecasting
    • Operational and strategic financial planning
  • Use Business Intelligence (BI) tools such as SQL to create data dashboards, generate reports, and perform advanced analytics.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure financial models are integrated with other systems used across the organization.
  • Support the implementation and rollout of new financial planning systems and software tools across departments.

2. Support the Financial Reporting Process

  • Assist in developing the annual reporting calendar, scheduling critical meetings, and organizing reporting workflows.
  • Help compile and analyze periodic financial reports to ensure timely and accurate information is delivered to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide technical support during financial reporting cycles, including data verification and validation.
  • Work closely with the global and in-country finance teams to implement process improvements and enhance efficiency in financial reporting.

3. Drive Financial Planning Processes

  • Participate actively in the organization-wide annual budgeting process, collecting data, developing templates, and ensuring accuracy of projections.
  • Assist in the creation of five-year strategic financial projections aligned with One Acre Fund’s organizational goals.
  • Contribute to the preparation of financial materials for the Board of Directors and external lenders, including budgeting presentations and forecast documents.
  • Evaluate financial performance trends and contribute to strategic discussions on cost optimization and investment planning.

4. Business Intelligence and Data Analysis

  • Use programming languages and tools such as R, Python, DAX, and other scripting languages to:
    • Clean and manipulate large datasets
    • Automate repetitive financial tasks
    • Provide detailed analysis of financial trends and program performance
  • Collaborate with technology and data teams to ensure integration of financial data with other key organizational data systems.
  • Create dynamic dashboards and tools for use by the leadership team to enable data-driven decision-making.

5. Team Collaboration and Communication

  • Work closely with finance, program, and operations staff across different countries and departments.
  • Communicate complex financial insights in a clear, concise manner tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Participate in cross-functional working groups and planning sessions to ensure alignment on financial priorities.
  • Support training and capacity-building initiatives related to financial modeling and data literacy for non-finance staff.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates for this role should meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Data Science, Business Administration, or related field.
  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience in finance, consulting, or data analysis roles.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in financial modeling and advanced Excel usage, including complex formulas.
  • Working knowledge of at least one of the following tools/languages: SQL, Python, R, DAX, or equivalent data scripting platforms.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a multicultural and collaborative team environment.

Location and Working Arrangement

  • This role is based in Nairobi, Kenya.
