Job Purpose
The Business Development Manager – Structured Trade Finance is responsible for identifying, developing, and managing structured trade finance opportunities. The role holder will spearhead business growth in structured commodity and supply chain finance by delivering customized financing solutions that meet client needs while adhering to the bank’s risk appetite and policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the origination and structuring of trade finance transactions across key sectors including agriculture, manufacturing, and energy.
  • Identify new business opportunities by engaging importers, exporters, aggregators, cooperatives, processors, and traders.
  • Develop client-specific structured solutions including pre-export finance, warehouse receipt financing, receivables finance, and inventory-backed facilities.
  • Coordinate with internal departments such as credit, operations, legal, and compliance to structure deals that meet client needs and regulatory standards.
  • Monitor client transactions and ensure post-disbursement conditions are met including collateral management, insurance, and covenant compliance.
  • Maintain and grow a quality portfolio of structured trade finance accounts in line with the bank’s profitability and risk standards.
  • Lead the preparation of credit proposals, risk assessments, and structuring memos for submission to credit committees.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with international trade finance institutions, DFIs, commodity off-takers, and logistics providers.
  • Champion client education on trade finance instruments and market practices to deepen client relationships and improve risk awareness.
  • Stay abreast of market trends, commodity prices, and global trade dynamics to inform product offerings and mitigate risks.

Position: Senior Relationship Manager, Agriculture

Job Purpose
The Senior Relationship Manager, Agriculture will be responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of agribusiness clients across the value chain. The role demands high-level client engagement, credit analysis, and structuring of agricultural finance solutions aligned with client needs and the bank’s growth strategy in the agri-sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive growth in the agribusiness segment through proactive acquisition of clients including cooperatives, input suppliers, processors, exporters, commercial farms, and agritech firms.
  • Provide strategic financial solutions tailored to the seasonality, risk profile, and growth stage of clients in the agricultural sector.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of agricultural value chains including grains, horticulture, livestock, fisheries, and industrial crops to guide lending and investment decisions.
  • Analyze financial statements, business models, and risk factors affecting agricultural enterprises to develop sound credit proposals.
  • Partner with risk, credit, and product development teams to structure solutions such as seasonal working capital, input financing, asset finance, and value chain-linked lending.
  • Offer advisory services to agribusiness clients on cash flow management, market access, insurance, and financial literacy.
  • Actively manage the loan portfolio to ensure timely repayments, adherence to covenants, and minimal delinquency.
  • Monitor and report on market trends, policy changes, and environmental factors impacting agricultural finance and propose responsive strategies.
  • Establish relationships with government bodies, donors, agri-value chain stakeholders, and cooperatives to foster partnerships and business opportunities.
  • Contribute to product innovation and marketing strategies targeting smallholder and commercial agriculture.
