The Kenya Leather Development Council (KLDC) is a State Corporation established by the Government of Kenya under the Kenya Leather Development Council Order, 2011 (Legal Notice No. 114 of 9th September 2011), operating under the State Corporations Act (Cap. 446), Laws of Kenya. The Council was created as a specialized agency tasked with steering the government’s agenda on the development of the leather industry.
As part of its mandate, KLDC regulates, coordinates, and facilitates the growth of the leather industry while ensuring the sector is positioned as a competitive player both locally and internationally. To further strengthen its operations, KLDC seeks to recruit qualified, results-oriented, and motivated individuals to fill the following positions.
1. Manager, Internal Audit
The Manager, Internal Audit will be responsible for providing independent assurance that the Council’s risk management, governance, and internal control processes are operating effectively.
Key duties and responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing an annual internal audit plan to evaluate the adequacy of the Council’s internal controls.
- Conducting audits to assess financial, operational, and compliance processes.
- Preparing audit reports and presenting findings with recommendations for corrective actions.
- Monitoring the implementation of audit recommendations to ensure improvements are made.
- Advising management on risk management strategies and internal controls.
- Ensuring adherence to professional auditing standards and regulations.

2. Manager, Finance and Accounts
The Manager, Finance and Accounts will oversee financial planning, management, and reporting functions to support the Council’s operational and strategic goals.
Key duties and responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing sound financial policies and procedures.
- Coordinating the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and periodic reports.
- Monitoring revenue collection, expenditure control, and cash flow management.
- Ensuring compliance with statutory financial regulations and standards.
- Managing payroll, procurement, and payment processes in line with established guidelines.
- Advising the Council on financial planning, investment, and cost optimization strategies.
- Supervising accounting staff and building their capacity.
3. Manager, Leather Development and Research
The Manager, Leather Development and Research will lead programs that promote technological advancement, research, and innovation in the leather sector.
Key duties and responsibilities include:
- Planning and coordinating research programs that support the development of leather products and processes.
- Promoting technology transfer and adoption across the industry.
- Supporting stakeholders in product development, diversification, and innovation.
- Identifying challenges and opportunities in the industry and advising on appropriate interventions.
- Documenting and disseminating research findings to relevant stakeholders.
- Building partnerships with research institutions, academia, and industry players.
- Monitoring trends and developments in the global leather sector to enhance local competitiveness.
4. Manager, Supply Chain Management
The Manager, Supply Chain Management will ensure efficiency, transparency, and accountability in the procurement and supply chain functions of the Council.
Key duties and responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing supply chain policies, strategies, and procedures.
- Coordinating procurement planning, tendering, and contract management.
- Ensuring compliance with the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act and related regulations.
- Managing inventory, stores, and distribution functions.
- Liaising with suppliers, contractors, and service providers to maintain quality and timely delivery.
- Preparing procurement reports and maintaining accurate records.
- Advising management on best practices in supply chain management.
5. Corporate Communications Officer
The Corporate Communications Officer will be responsible for the Council’s communications strategy, media relations, and brand management.
Key duties and responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing communication strategies to enhance the Council’s image.
- Preparing press releases, speeches, and corporate publications.
- Managing the Council’s digital platforms, including website and social media.
- Coordinating media coverage and building relationships with journalists.
- Organizing corporate events, exhibitions, and public engagements.
- Monitoring public perception of the Council and advising on corrective communication strategies.
- Ensuring consistent branding and messaging across all communication channels.
6. Planning Officer
The Planning Officer will support the formulation, implementation, and evaluation of strategic and operational plans.
Key duties and responsibilities include:
- Coordinating the development and review of the Council’s strategic plan.
- Preparing annual work plans and performance reports.
- Collecting and analyzing data to support policy formulation and decision-making.
- Monitoring and evaluating program implementation to ensure alignment with objectives.

7. Human Resource Officer
The Human Resource Officer will provide support in the management of human capital to enhance productivity and staff welfare.

- Coordinating recruitment, selection, and placement of staff.
- Managing employee records and personal files.
- Supporting staff training, development, and performance appraisal systems.
- Administering employee welfare and benefits programs.

8. Supply Chain Management Officer
The Supply Chain Management Officer will provide operational support in the procurement and supply chain function.
Key duties and responsibilities include:
- Preparing procurement plans and tender documents.
- Coordinating the procurement process, including evaluation and awarding of contracts.
- Managing records related to procurement and supplies.
- Assisting in contract management and supplier performance monitoring.
- Monitoring inventory levels and coordinating stock replenishment.

9. Accountant
The Accountant will manage financial records and transactions to ensure accountability and compliance.

10. Office Assistant
The Office Assistant will provide general office support services to ensure smooth operations within the Council.

- Filing, photocopying, and managing office documents.
- Delivering documents and messages within and outside the Council.
- Maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of office spaces.
- Supporting staff with administrative tasks as required.

11. Driver
The Driver will be responsible for transporting staff and materials while ensuring adherence to safety and vehicle management guidelines.

- Driving Council vehicles as authorized.
- Ensuring the safety of passengers, goods, and the vehicle.
- Carrying out routine checks and ensuring roadworthiness of vehicles.
- Reporting vehicle defects and arranging for timely servicing and repairs.
- Maintaining records of trips, mileage, and fuel consumption.
- Adhering to traffic laws and Council’s transport policies.
- Assisting in logistical support during official activities.
12. Office Administrator
The Office Administrator will coordinate office functions to ensure efficiency and effective service delivery.

- Supervising clerical staff and assigning duties.
- Managing office supplies, equipment, and inventory.
- Handling correspondence and communication for the office.

13. Clerical Officer
The Clerical Officer will provide clerical and administrative support services.
