As Jubilee continues to strengthen its leadership position in the industry, the company is looking for an exceptional professional to take up the role of Chief Finance Officer (CFO) at Jubilee Life Insurance Limited (JLIL). This is an exciting opportunity for a visionary leader with deep financial expertise to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of one of the most respected organizations in the region. The position will be based at the Jubilee Head Office in Nairobi and reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Role Purpose
The Chief Finance Officer will lead and develop standards for the Finance and Property teams within JLIL. This role is at the heart of organizational decision-making, providing strategic, financial, and operational leadership. The CFO will be expected to deliver excellence across multiple domains, including finance, taxation, strategy, property portfolio management, compliance, and people leadership.
The successful candidate will not only safeguard the financial health of the company but also act as a trusted advisor to the CEO, the Board of Directors, and other stakeholders. By combining strategic foresight with operational discipline, the CFO will contribute directly to sustaining Jubilee’s market leadership.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategy
- Provide strategic leadership in formulating both short-term and long-term financial objectives for JLIL, backed by in-depth analysis and evaluation.
- Align JLIL’s financial benchmarks with Jubilee Group standards while ensuring effective implementation across all business lines.
- Lead the budgeting process, ensuring budgets are financially viable and reflect the organization’s strategic direction.
- Offer financial direction on mergers, acquisitions, and country expansion initiatives, including preparation of comprehensive business plans.
- Collaborate with the Asset Management Company to coordinate JLIL’s investment strategy, ensuring optimal returns and effective Asset-Liability management.
- Cultivate strong relationships with banks, financial institutions, and rating agencies to enhance financial partnerships and strengthen corporate reputation.
2. Accounting
- Ensure timely adoption of new accounting standards, including IFRS 17, with proactive analysis to minimize impacts.
- Monitor and evaluate performance targets to motivate and guide the Finance department.
- Partner with Internal Audit to resolve identified issues promptly and transparently.
- Oversee the work of external auditors and actuaries, ensuring compliance and accountability.
- Coordinate with actuaries to deliver timely statutory valuations and reserve calculations.
3. Controlling and Reporting
- Supervise the preparation and delivery of annual audited financial statements and reports.
- Analyze financial performance against industry trends, producing timely reports for management and the Board.
- Enhance the use of integrated financial and management information systems.
- Act as the CEO’s and Board’s key reference point for financial matters.
- Ensure accurate and timely regulatory reporting while monitoring budget versus actual performance.
- Strengthen financial controls, policies, and procedures to guarantee compliance and accuracy.
4. Property Management
- Develop and execute JLIL’s property strategy in line with organizational goals.
- Identify new opportunities in property development and investment.
- Monitor performance of property assets, maximizing value and ensuring cost efficiency.
- Oversee property development projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key property stakeholders.
5. Brand Representation
- Serve as a financial ambassador for Jubilee Life, enhancing transparency and stakeholder trust.
- Represent the company in investor briefings, regulatory forums, and meetings with rating agencies.
- Reinforce the Jubilee Life brand promise by upholding financial integrity and governance.
6. Compliance
- Stay updated on finance and property regulations, ensuring full compliance.
- Establish mitigation measures for emerging business risks.
- Implement effective risk management strategies to safeguard against financial, operational, and regulatory risks.
7. People & Culture
- Lead and inspire cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
- Drive employee engagement through transparent communication, team-building, and career growth initiatives.
- Promote cultural alignment by embedding Jubilee’s values—innovation, teamwork, and excellence—into daily operations.
- Mentor and develop talent within the Finance team, ensuring sustainability and succession readiness.

Academic Background & Relevant Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Business-related fields.
- Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Strategy, or related disciplines.
- CPA-K/ACCA qualification or equivalent is required.
- CIFA/CFA qualification is an added advantage.
- 10–15 years of experience in Finance, ideally within the insurance sector.
- Experience operating in complex, regulated environments.
- Proficiency in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, analysis, and reporting.
- Demonstrated experience in team leadership, mentorship, and building high-performing teams.
- Familiarity with process improvement, change management, and the use of technology in finance.
