Job Title: Reliability Monitoring Engineer

Key Accountabilities
The Reliability Monitoring Engineer will undertake a wide range of duties designed to enhance the safety, reliability, and efficiency of aircraft operations. Responsibilities will include:
- Reliability Program Development and Analysis
- Create and implement reliability program plans.
- Conduct reliability analysis, failure rate apportioning, and generate detailed reliability reports.
- Continuously assess data to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Procedures and Documentation
- Develop and maintain work instructions and section procedures.
- Document and maintain a repetitive defect database.
- Review strip records from manufacturers/vendors and benchmark findings against industry standards.
- Safety and Hazard Management
- Perform system and subsystem safety hazard analyses.
- Assign hazard ratings, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure hazards are tracked to acceptable risk levels.
- Carry out defect and delay analyses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Deferred Defects Management
- Monitor and control Acceptable Deferred Defects (ADDS) for accuracy and compliance.
- Ensure minimisation of costs associated with dispensations from KCAA.
- Technical Support
- Provide guidance and technical expertise to the maintenance team.
- Initiate investigations for issues exceeding alert limits and recommend preventive actions.
- Research and approve alternate sources for End-of-Life (EOL) parts.
- Component Reliability Management
- Establish component repair and build specifications.
- Enhance dispatch reliability while ensuring compliance with budgetary and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and submit Component Failure Reports and Non-Incident Statements.
- Continuous Improvement
- Refine standard analysis methods and processes.
- Submit recommendations focusing on safety, reliability, and cost control.
- Track accountability for reliability and operational efficiency initiatives.
- Regulatory and Environmental Compliance
- Ensure strict compliance with KCAA regulations and industry standards.
- Support the implementation of the Environmental Management System (EMS).
- Report hazards, near misses, and incidents as per company procedures.
- Workplace Safety
- Promote and maintain a healthy, safe, and secure working environment.
- Comply with legislative and company requirements for occupational safety and health.
Education Requirements
Applicants must meet the following academic qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Aeronautical Engineering or equivalent from a recognised institution.
- KCSE Mean Score of C+ with at least C+ in Mathematics, Physics, and English.
- Proficiency in office software and computer applications.
- Knowledge of data analysis (Power BI knowledge is an added advantage).
- Familiarity with KCAA regulations and reliability concepts.
Experience Requirements
Candidates must have proven practical experience in aviation reliability. Specifically:
- At least 3 years’ experience in a reliability department.
- Advanced proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel.
- Strong presentation skills for business and technical briefings.
- Risk evaluation and decision-making skills, with a commitment to safety.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate in a cross-functional and multi-location environment.
- Strong conflict resolution skills and professional demeanour under pressure.
