Position: Business Development Manager

The Business Development Manager will report directly to the Director of Medical Services & Strategy. This role requires a forward-thinking, analytical, and results-oriented professional who can identify both short- and long-term market opportunities while driving the hospital’s brand and reputation. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that every interaction with patients, partners, and the broader community reflects the hospital’s mission, values, and clinical authority.

This is not just a marketing role—it is a leadership position that blends market intelligence, strategic planning, brand building, and relationship management to achieve measurable growth in patient volumes, service-line penetration, and payer mix. The Business Development Manager will serve as the champion of Mater Hospital’s brand, ensuring that all communications and campaigns reinforce trust, credibility, and excellence.


Main Duties and Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Business Development Manager span several critical areas, including strategy, marketing, relationship management, and team leadership. Below is a detailed outline of the key duties expected of the successful candidate:

  • Market Scanning and Strategic Briefings
    • Continuously scan the healthcare business macro-environment, including demographic, economic, regulatory, and technological shifts.
    • Assess the competitive landscape and present quarterly briefings with actionable insights to the Executive Committee (EXCO).
    • Provide recommendations that guide decision-making and positioning of the hospital’s services.
  • Segmentation, Positioning, and Planning
    • Translate market findings into clear segmentation and positioning strategies for priority specialties.
    • Develop go-to-market plans that align with the hospital’s strategic objectives.
  • Campaign Development and Execution
    • Plan, design, and implement multi-channel marketing campaigns across digital platforms, print media, radio, events, and corporate social responsibility initiatives.
    • Ensure all campaigns generate qualified leads and deliver measurable conversions into patient visits and service utilization.
  • Content and Media Management
    • Own the hospital’s content calendar, oversee creative approvals, and manage media buying.
    • Negotiate advertising and media contracts to achieve maximum value and cost savings compared to industry benchmarks.
  • Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
    • Design and execute CRM programmes that target referral physicians, corporates, insurers, and patients.
    • Develop initiatives to strengthen customer loyalty, encourage repeat visits, and build long-term partnerships.
  • Digital and Online Reputation Management
    • Manage the hospital’s website, ensuring it remains a trusted source of accurate and engaging information.
    • Oversee search engine optimization (SEO), search engine marketing (SEM), and social media presence.
    • Monitor and manage the hospital’s online reputation, ensuring timely responses and positive engagement.
  • Brand Equity and Public Relations
    • Identify sponsorship, CSR, and PR opportunities that enhance the hospital’s visibility and reputation.
    • Build partnerships and networks that strengthen brand equity across diverse stakeholders.
  • Events and Outreach Programs
    • Conceptualize, organize, and execute Continuing Medical Education (CME) sessions, health camps, wellness days, and flagship hospital events.
    • Track return on investment (ROI) through attendance, leads generated, and downstream revenue from such initiatives.
  • Team Leadership and Development
    • Recruit, onboard, and mentor Business Development Executives to ensure a high-performing team.
    • Conduct quarterly performance reviews and develop individual growth and development plans for each team member.
  • Quality Improvement and Reporting
    • Participate in hospital-wide quality improvement projects.
    • Submit accurate monthly dashboards and comprehensive Board reports, highlighting progress, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Other Duties
    • Undertake any other responsibilities assigned from time to time by the Director Medical Services & Strategy or hospital leadership.

Qualifications and Experience

To succeed in this role, the hospital is looking for a candidate with both the academic foundation and relevant professional experience required in healthcare business development and marketing.

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field.
  • An MBA or postgraduate diploma in Marketing is preferred.
  • At least 6 years of progressive experience in marketing or business development, with at least 3 years in a hospital, clinic, pharmaceutical, or health-services environment.
  • Strong proficiency in Google Analytics, CRM platforms, SEO/SEM tools, and MS 365.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret financial statements and apply insights to decision-making.
  • Valid professional membership in a relevant marketing or business association.

The ideal candidate should also possess excellent communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills. A track record of successfully managing campaigns, building partnerships, and driving measurable business outcomes in healthcare is highly desirable.
