In line with this vision, the Aga Khan Primary School, Kisumu (AKPSK), which offers the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) from Grade 1 to Grade 9, is seeking to recruit a highly motivated and experienced professional for the role of P1 Teacher. Position: P1 Teacher
Role Summary
The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching Mathematics and Sciences from Grade 4 to Grade 9. The role requires an individual who is passionate about education, innovative in instructional delivery, and committed to student success.
Key Responsibilities
The P1 Teacher will undertake the following duties:
- Lesson Preparation and Delivery
- Prepare and deliver high-quality lessons aligned with the school’s vision, mission, and the Competency Based Curriculum.
- Collaboratively develop unit and lesson plans to ensure effective curriculum implementation.
- Ensure students acquire excellent knowledge and skills, enabling them to achieve learning goals and prepare for future academic stages.
- Curriculum Documentation
- Produce necessary instructional documents such as unit plans, records of work, course outlines, and class analyses.
- Maintain accurate and updated records to support effective teaching and learning processes.
- Differentiated Instruction
- Design and implement differentiated lessons tailored to the diverse learning needs of students.
- Support learners with varying abilities, including those with learning differences and behavioral challenges.
- Active and Engaging Learning
- Involve students in diverse activities such as storytelling, role plays, number recognition, and letter recognition exercises.
- Create opportunities for hands-on experiences to deepen conceptual understanding.
- Display learners’ work in classrooms to celebrate achievements and encourage creativity.
- Student Development and Enrichment
- Plan and coordinate regular excursions to expose students to new environments and broaden their perspectives.
- Observe learners’ behavior and provide guidance to promote self-confidence and the development of social values.
- Encourage teamwork, discipline, and respect among students.
- Monitoring and Reporting
- Track and update students’ academic progress consistently.
- Prepare reports and provide feedback to parents, keeping them engaged in their children’s learning journey.
- Ensure continuous communication with school leadership regarding academic and behavioral progress.
Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
- Holder of a PTE Certificate (P1 Certificate) from KNEC with a minimum of B- in O-levels.
- Must be registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
- At least two years’ teaching experience in Upper Primary.
- In-depth knowledge of the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC).
- A Bachelor’s degree in Education will be an added advantage.
- Proficiency in MS Office computer applications is desirable.
