Key Responsibilities

The Tupande Market Access Associate will support initiatives that expand smallholder farmers’ access to competitive markets. The role requires an individual with strong project management skills, the ability to coordinate across diverse teams, and a focus on innovative solutions that benefit farmers and communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and implement complex projects designed to improve market access for smallholder farmers in Kenya.
  • Collaborate with multiple internal teams and external stakeholders to develop strategies that address market barriers.
  • Conduct research and analysis on agricultural markets to identify opportunities for farmer engagement.
  • Design and pilot innovative models for farmer-market linkages, ensuring they are scalable and sustainable.
  • Build relationships with buyers, cooperatives, and other value chain actors to expand market opportunities for farmers.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of market access programs, reporting results and making recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensure alignment of market access initiatives with the organization’s broader agricultural and rural development goals.

Position: Tax Lead

Location: Kenya and Rwanda

The Tax Lead will be a key member of the Finance Division, responsible for ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations across multiple jurisdictions. This role requires a strong understanding of tax frameworks and the ability to provide strategic advice to country program teams and the wider finance function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure organizational compliance with national and international tax regulations in both Kenya and Rwanda.
  • Provide expert guidance to the finance team and country program teams on tax-related matters.
  • Oversee preparation and submission of accurate and timely tax filings.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls that reduce tax risks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor changes in tax legislation and advise on their potential impact on organizational operations.
  • Collaborate with external auditors and tax authorities during audits, assessments, and investigations.
  • Provide input into organizational strategy regarding tax planning and optimization.
  • Build capacity of finance team members through training and mentorship on tax-related matters.
