MSF Hiring Locum Electrician/Technician – Nairobi

by Recal

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), also known as Doctors Without Borders, is one of the world’s leading independent international medical humanitarian organizations. Established to respond to the health needs of populations affected by war, epidemics, natural or man-made disasters, and those excluded from access to healthcare, MSF has been at the forefront of global emergency and long-term health responses since its founding in 1971.

Today, MSF operates in more than 68 countries worldwide, delivering lifesaving medical assistance, capacity building, and health system strengthening in contexts where health care services are inadequate, overstretched, or nonexistent. Its work is driven by the principles of impartiality, neutrality, and independence.

In Kenya, MSF France has had a strong presence since 1996, partnering with local health authorities and communities to improve access to essential medical care. One of its most notable interventions has been in Homa Bay County, where MSF France collaborates with the County Health Government to provide comprehensive care for HIV, Chronic Diseases, and COVID-19.

Over the years, MSF’s presence in Kenya has grown beyond emergency interventions, extending to capacity building, long-term care, and community engagement. Currently, MSF France manages 90 beds in the adult internal medicine and TB wards at Homa Bay County Teaching and Referral Hospital. Through this intervention, MSF is improving patient management for adults hospitalized with chronic and infectious diseases. Furthermore, MSF has been pioneering decentralized models of chronic disease care at the Primary Health Centre level, ensuring patients receive ongoing support closer to their communities.

In 2023, MSF France introduced a palliative care package that integrates community-based home care for patients requiring long-term support. This approach is anchored in the philosophy of patient-centered care, integrating mental health support, psycho-social care, community engagement, and differentiated models of treatment delivery.

In Nairobi, MSF France continues to play a critical role through its Coordination office and Mathare project sites. These operations support logistical, technical, and medical activities, enabling MSF to maintain high standards of healthcare delivery in complex environments.

To support these operations, MSF France is seeking a qualified and experienced Locum Electrician/Technician to strengthen its logistics team. This is a vital role, ensuring the continuous functioning of essential electrical and IT systems in health facilities, offices, and warehouses.
