Main Duties and Key Accountabilities

1. Technical System Maintenance

  • Ensure ongoing uptime, security, and continuous system upgrades.
  • Implement improvements to enhance performance and efficiency.

2. Technical Support

  • Provide support through KeNIC’s ticketing system and via phone.
  • Troubleshoot issues for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Deliver timely resolutions while maintaining high customer satisfaction.

3. Documentation and Manuals

  • Build and maintain comprehensive documentation for all systems and infrastructure.
  • Assist in the creation of user manuals for technical and non-technical staff.
  • Ensure that documentation is regularly updated to reflect current processes and configurations.

4. Monitoring and Reporting

  • Monitor system performance consistently.
  • Diagnose and resolve performance-related issues.
  • Provide regular reports detailing performance metrics and incidents.

5. Data Management and Recovery

  • Back up data regularly and verify restore procedures.
  • Develop recovery strategies for outages and cyberattacks.

    • Develop expertise in both current and emerging technologies.
    • Train technical staff to strengthen team capabilities.
  5. Professional Development
    • Attend workshops, review publications, and engage in networking to stay informed of trends.
    • Benchmark against industry standards to bring best practices to KeNIC.
  6. Equipment Maintenance
    • Oversee infrastructure equipment maintenance.
    • Track maintenance schedules and ensure timely servicing.
  7. Quality and Standards
    • Uphold organizational standards for service delivery.
    • Ensure compliance with internal and external policies.
  8. Other Duties
    • Perform any other tasks as assigned by the department head.

Requirements

The Systems Administrator role calls for a balance of education, experience, and technical skills.

Education and Experience

  • Diploma in IT, Computer Science, or any other IT-related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an IT field.
  • Additional certifications in IT courses will be an added advantage.
