The company now invites qualified professionals to apply for the position of Solutions Architect, a pivotal role within Jubilee Life Insurance Limited. The position holder will report to the Head of Enterprise Architecture and will be based at the company’s Head Office in Nairobi.


Role Purpose

The Solutions Architect serves as a key technical expert responsible for designing and delivering scalable, innovative digital solutions that align with Jubilee’s enterprise architecture and long-term transformation goals. This role focuses on creating technology-driven frameworks and platforms that elevate customer engagement, improve business efficiency, and ensure seamless integration across Jubilee’s subsidiaries in East Africa.

The incumbent will play an essential role in driving the digital architecture roadmap, ensuring the design and deployment of robust, secure, and future-ready systems. Additionally, the Solutions Architect will lead collaborative efforts across the Digital Factory, IT, and business units to translate complex requirements into strategic digital solutions that support Jubilee’s multi-market operations.


Main Responsibilities

Digital Solutions Architecture Design

  • Strategic Design Leadership: Architect and guide the development of digital solutions such as mobile applications, web portals, and APIs that align with the company’s vision of achieving a 20% increase in digital engagement by 2027.
  • Solution Blueprint Development: Create detailed architectural blueprints for platforms that ensure scalability, integration, and security across regional subsidiaries.
  • Technology Environment Analysis: Conduct in-depth assessments of existing systems to identify improvement opportunities and recommend technological enhancements.
  • Integration Design: Design efficient integrations between core systems such as ERP and CRM platforms to enable seamless data exchange across departments and regions.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with business units, digital transformation teams, and the Head of Enterprise Architecture to translate business needs into practical technical designs, achieving high alignment with operational goals.

Implementation and Technical Oversight

  • Solution Delivery: Oversee implementation processes to ensure adherence to defined architectural frameworks and performance standards.
  • Performance Optimization: Design and deploy solutions that achieve high system reliability with minimal downtime and optimal response speeds for critical insurance operations such as claims and policy management.
  • Prototyping and Testing: Develop prototypes and carry out architectural reviews to minimize technical defects during the software development lifecycle.
  • Vendor Coordination: Collaborate with third-party technology vendors to ensure their solutions comply with Jubilee’s architecture and integration standards.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and comprehensive architectural documentation to facilitate knowledge transfer and ensure traceability throughout project cycles.

Digital Innovation and Scalability

  • Innovation Leadership: Integrate emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, and automation tools to deliver innovative digital capabilities.
  • Cloud Enablement: Lead the design and migration of digital systems to cloud environments, ensuring scalable and cost-effective solutions that can support future business growth.
  • Microservices Adoption: Advocate for and implement microservices-based architectures that allow modularity, flexibility, and faster deployment cycles.
  • Scalability Planning: Design systems capable of supporting exponential growth in user interactions and digital transactions across all regional subsidiaries.
  • Futureproofing: Anticipate and incorporate future technological trends to minimize technical debt and maintain long-term architectural relevance.

Corporate Governance

  • Governance Alignment: Ensure all digital architectures adhere to Jubilee’s established enterprise architecture governance framework and corporate values.
  • Compliance-Enabling Architecture: Develop technical solutions that meet regional regulatory standards, including Kenya’s Data Protection Act and IFRS 17 compliance requirements.
  • Security Architecture: Embed strong cybersecurity principles, including encryption and multi-factor authentication, to reduce risks and safeguard customer data.
  • Risk Mitigation: Identify and mitigate potential architectural risks such as system failures or data breaches through proactive technical strategies.
  • Audit Support: Provide technical documentation and guidance during audits to ensure full compliance and zero material weaknesses in system controls.
  • Ethical Standards: Uphold ethical design practices and ensure that all architectural decisions align with the company’s principles of transparency and accountability.

Collaboration and Team Support

  • Technical Guidance: Offer hands-on technical mentorship to development teams to ensure projects comply with established architectural standards.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with data engineering, IT security, and business teams to deliver integrated solutions aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Mentorship: Support professional growth within digital teams by coaching junior architects and developers on best practices in modern solution design.
  • Performance Metrics: Track solution performance and present quarterly optimization reports to the Head of Enterprise Architecture.

Continuous Improvement and Standards Enforcement

  • Architecture Reviews: Conduct frequent reviews to ensure efficiency, maintainability, and continuous improvement in digital solution designs.
  • Standards Enforcement: Enforce adherence to company-wide coding and API design standards to ensure consistency across all digital projects.
  • Feedback Integration: Integrate feedback from end-users and stakeholders to enhance system functionality and satisfaction.
  • Tool Utilization: Use enterprise architecture tools to streamline processes, improve accuracy, and reduce design and implementation times.
  • Agile Support: Align architectural methodologies with Agile delivery principles to enable faster, more iterative development and deployment.

  • Detailed Technical Design: Deliver comprehensive architectural designs consistent with defined technical standards and project requirements.
  • Technical Guidance and Architecture Governance: Provide continuous oversight and direction to development teams throughout all stages of the project lifecycle.

  • Innovation: Actively contribute to technology innovation initiatives and explore modern solutions to enhance service delivery.
  • Integration Design: Ensure systems are seamlessly interconnected to promote efficiency and accuracy in data exchange across all business processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • A Master’s degree such as MSc in IT or an MBA with a technology specialization is considered an added advantage.
  • Professional certifications in architecture and cloud technologies (TOGAF, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect) are strongly preferred.

Relevant Experience

  • Minimum of five years in solution architecture or software engineering, with at least three years focused on digital solution delivery.
  • Proven record in digital transformation within the insurance or financial services sector.
  • Experience designing and implementing large-scale solutions serving over one million users or generating multimillion-dollar impacts.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and deploying cloud-based or microservices architectures.
  • Solid understanding of technology compliance requirements in regulated industries across multiple countries.
