Automotive Technician
The Davis & Shirtliff Group is the leading supplier of Water and Energy solutions in the region. The Group is Kenyan based and operates through a network of Kenyan branches as well as regional subsidiaries in Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Rwanda, South Sudan, DRC, Ethiopia and Zimbabwe. The company has a total complement of over 800 highly trained and professional staff spread across the region and seeks to fill the positions of Automotive Technician in Lusaka, Zambia.
Reporting to the Manager, the technician will diagnose and work on all vehicle electrical & mechanical systems including engine management within the set Company SOPs to ensure successful and high-quality repair of vehicles, exemplary customer service and achievement of set Company Performance Targets.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in vehicles, equipment, or machinery.
- Carry out routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and servicing of all company motor vehicles.
- Carry out overhauls of engines, gearboxes, and other complex systems.
- Diagnose and repair vehicles accurately and within reasonable timeframes and with quality of work that exceeds customer expectations.
- Observe and follow safety regulations when operating machinery, equipment, and tools.
- Respond to breakdowns and perform emergency onsite repairs.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Diploma in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering/Heavy Equipment Mechanics.
- Valid driver’s license.
- At least 3 years post apprentice experience.
- Experience in the servicing, diagnosis and repair of vehicles within a busy workshop environment is essential.
- Proficient knowledge in Electrical circuits
- Specialized certifications added advantage (e.g., hydraulics, air-conditioning systems, or diesel engine repair).
