Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital (KUTRRH) is a State Corporation established under Legal Notice No. 4 of 2019 as a Level 6 Referral Hospital. The hospital is equipped with advanced medical technology and modern facilities designed to deliver high-quality, patient-centered healthcare services. The hospital continues to expand its leadership team to enhance its service delivery and uphold its mission of providing world-class medical care. The Chief Executive Officer of KUTRRH now invites applications from qualified, experienced, and motivated individuals for the following key positions:

Director, Finance and Planning

Job Reference Number: DFP/VERT 4/2025

The Director of Finance and Planning will oversee the financial management, planning, and budgeting functions of KUTRRH. The position is central to ensuring the hospital’s financial sustainability, transparency, and compliance with public finance management regulations. The successful candidate will lead the development and execution of financial strategies that support the hospital’s operational and strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement financial policies, systems, and procedures that promote sound financial management and accountability.
  • Lead the preparation and execution of the hospital’s annual budget in consultation with departmental heads and management.
  • Provide financial analysis and advice to support strategic planning and informed decision-making by the executive team.
  • Monitor financial performance and ensure adherence to approved budgets, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions.
  • Oversee financial reporting processes, ensuring timely preparation and submission of accurate financial statements in compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
  • Manage hospital revenue streams, including billing, collections, grants, and donor funds, to ensure efficient financial operations.
  • Ensure effective cash flow management, treasury operations, and optimal use of financial resources.
  • Oversee procurement planning and expenditure control in line with public finance management laws and hospital policies.
  • Coordinate external and internal audits, ensuring prompt implementation of audit recommendations.
  • Drive the preparation of financial forecasts, investment analyses, and project appraisals to guide resource allocation and capital planning.
  • Provide leadership in risk management and establish internal controls to safeguard the hospital’s assets.
  • Lead the formulation of long-term financial strategies that support the hospital’s growth, sustainability, and service expansion.
  • Oversee financial capacity building and mentorship of finance department staff to promote professional excellence.
  • Collaborate with government agencies, partners, and donors on financial reporting and accountability requirements.
  • Support strategic planning and performance monitoring processes to ensure alignment of financial planning with institutional goals.

The Director, Finance and Planning, will be instrumental in ensuring that KUTRRH maintains strong financial discipline, supports innovation in healthcare delivery, and achieves its objectives sustainably and efficiently.


Terms of Service

The successful candidates for all the above positions will serve on a five-year contract, renewable once, subject to satisfactory performance.
