Main duties
- Conduct maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on equipment in accordance with procedures and standards as stated in Army Equipment Support Publications (AESP’s) and or manufacturers repair manuals.
- Comply with technical instructions in addition to any policy procedures laid down in AESPs.
- Comply with engineering hygiene standards ensuring that all tools on charge are serviceable and accounted for.
- Comply with processes laid down in the Unit Equipment Care Directive (UECD) and Engineering Management System (EMS).
- Comply with workshop procedures, Control of Substances Hazardous to Heath (COSHH) and Health and Safety Regulations.
- Identify opportunities for my personal and professional development.
- Use of technical equipment, specialist tools and appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Drive and operate equipment whilst under repair, maintenance and inspection.
- Raise any issues from your section to the Line Foreman/Charge Hand or Production SNCO.
- Raise any issues/concerns in the workshop to the Chain of Command (CoC) at the earliest opportunity and remember to staff up the chain where possible.
Secondary Duties:
- Deploy forward to EXCON to provide maintenance of the BATUK white fleet and Real-Life Support of green fleet during exercise.
- Monitoring resources held at the workplace and informing the chain of command of any abuse or malpractice.
- Carry out any other duties commensurate with trade/grade as directed by the LEC supervisors and military line mangers.
Competences/qualifications/experience:
a. Essential Qualifications / Experience:
- Minimum grade 3 Automotive Engineering Certificate from an approved Technical Institute.
- KSCE at Grade D or above
- Demonstrate good understanding of English language (written and verbal).
- Demonstrate good understanding of Kiswahili (written and verbal).
- Current and valid Class C Kenyan driving licence (car license).
b. Essential Competences

- Planning and managing resources to deliver results.
c. Desirable:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced engineering environment.
Training Requirements:
- BATUK Wksp Workplace Induction Package (WIP)
- Be capable of passing the BATUK Matrix Test (a requirement for BATUK drivers)
