MEDICAL OFFICERS
JOB GROUP: CPSB 07 (M)
No. OF POSTS: 17 POSTS
TERMS OF SERVICE: PERMANENT AND PENSIONABLE
Duties and Responsibilities
- Participate in the strategic planning of the division in collaboration with other medical staff in the unit for significant impact on the performance or business outcome of the hospital and its sub-functions.
- Attend to patients’ medical needs, diagnose their illnesses and prescribe medicines and other therapeutic interventions in consultation rooms at the hospital.
- Follow-up on and observe the clinical conditions and progress of patients in the wards
- Provide medical advice, counselling, health education and control measures to patients in the hospital in order to prevent spread of diseases and injuries.
- Work with other medical staff to solve single or multiple medical issues and/or participate in performing extensive surgical operations in the hospital.
- Implement best practice clinical and patient care related policies and procedures in the outpatient division of the hospital.
- Refer outpatients to the appropriate specialized clinics and medical consultants within the hospital for further diagnosis, treatment and management of their medical conditions.
- Provide quality emergency medical services to patients in the emergency unit of the hospital.
- Any other duty given from time to time.
Requirements for Appointment
- Kenyan Citizen
- Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from a recognized institution
- Must have a Certificate in basic life support and Advanced Cardiac life support
- Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council
- Valid Practice License.
- At least one year working experience in medical practice in a busy health facility.
2. REGISTERED NURSE III

Duties and Responsibilities
- Assessing, planning, implementing nursing interventions and evaluating patient outcome, providing appropriate health care service including integrated.
- Management of childhood illness (IMCI) Immunization, PMTC, Antenatal care and delivery, providing health education and counselling to patients and clients
- Facilitate patient’s admission and initiating discharge plans, maintaining records on patients/clients’ health education and care. Ensuring a tidy and safe clinical environment, collecting and compiling
- Any other duty that may be delegated
Requirements for Appointment
- Kenyan Citizen
- Diploma in any of the following: Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing/ Kenya Registered Nursing/ Kenya registered midwife/ Kenya registered nursing/midwifery/Mental Health and Psychiatry from a recognized institution.

3. REGISTERED CLINICAL OFFICER III

- Taking history, examining, diagnosing and treating patients;

- Assessing, preparing and presenting medico-legal reports;
- Liaising with other health care personnel for efficient delivery of patient care;

- Certificate of Registration from the Clinical Officers Council of Kenya

4. ASSISTANT HEALTH RECORDS AND INFORMATION MANAGEMENT OFFICER III

- Maintaining record safety and confidentiality; and
- Assigning codes to disease and surgical procedures according to ICD 11
- Creating, maintaining and updating patient master index

- Certificate in computer skills from a recognized institution
- Certificate of registration by Association of Medical Records Officers-Kenya (AMROK).
5.ASSISTANT PHYSIOTHERAPIST III

Duties and Responsibilities
- Providing Physiotherapy services to inpatients and outpatients in health institutions;
- Assessing patient needs including rehabilitation;
- Verifying and maintaining information and records relating to patients;
- Screening, assessing and providing therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, electrotherapy and hydrotherapy as per the patients/clients formulated treatment plan;
- Collecting data for operational research
- Sensitizing the community on Physiotherapy issues; and Preparing periodic reports.

- Diploma in Physiotherapy from a recognized institution
- Certificate of Registration from the Physiotherapy Council of Kenya (PCK); and
- Current Certificate of practice from Physiotherapy Council of Kenya (PCK).

6. MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST III

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Receiving/collecting, recording of specimens;
- Processing and analyses
- Preparing reagents;
- Recording and reporting of results;
- Dispatching the results for clinical;
- Routine and daily maintenance of laboratory specimen;
- Ensure adherence to biosafety and biosecurity guidelines;
- Taking part in preparation of Standards Operations Procedures (SOPs)
Requirements for Appointment
- Kenyan Citizen
- Diploma in any of the following fields: Medical Laboratory Science/ Analytical Chemistry/Applied Sciences/ Food Science and Technology/Medical Laboratory Technology/Biotechnology or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Registration Certificate issued by Kenya Medical Laboratory Technician and Technologists Board (KMLTTB) where applicable or any other recognized regulatory body.

7. PHARMACEUTICAL TECHNOLOGIST III

2. Verifying and maintaining information relating to medication issued to patients

4.Guiding and counselling Pharmaceutical technologist intern and;
5. Supervision of other staff working under him/her
6.Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
Requirement for appointment:
1.Be a Kenyan citizen
2.Be a hold of a Diploma in Pharmacy or Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized medical institution
3.Must be enrolled by Pharmacy and Poisons Board of Kenya
4.Proof of Membership to Kenya Pharmaceutical Association will be required
5.Be computer literate i.e. working knowledge with Ms Word, Ms Excel, Ms PowerPoint, Ms Acces
