Job Description

The Data Visualization Intern will support the office’s efforts to analyze, interpret, and present data related to peacebuilding, political engagement, regional cooperation, and development initiatives in the Great Lakes Region.

Key responsibilities include assisting in the design and development of data visualizations such as dashboards, charts, maps, and infographics to support reports, presentations, and briefings. The intern will work with structured and unstructured datasets, helping to clean, organize, and prepare data for visualization and analysis.

The role involves collaborating with programme officers and analysts to understand data requirements and translate analytical insights into visual formats that are accessible to both technical and non-technical audiences. The intern will also support the preparation of analytical products for internal use, senior leadership briefings, and external communication materials.

Additional responsibilities include maintaining visualization templates, supporting consistency in visual standards, and assisting with data documentation and version control. The intern may also contribute to research tasks, data collection, and monitoring activities as required by the office.

This position provides hands-on exposure to data-driven decision-making within the United Nations system and contributes directly to regional policy support and strategic engagement.
