Job Advert – Program Lead – Partnership for Education of Health Professionals (PEP)

Job Summary
The Program Lead will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and operational oversight for the Partnership for Education of Health Professionals (PEP) Medical Training Colleges (MTCs) anchorage phase program in Kenya. This individual will ensure the effective delivery of program work packages, maintain coordination between partners, manage risks, and ensure compliance with donor requirements. The Program Lead will act as the central point of accountability for program execution, communication, and reporting, ensuring alignment with CHAK’s vision of strengthening institutional capacity for cardiometabolic disease (CMD) education and research in Kenya.
Key Responsibilities
- Program Management and Delivery
- Lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of all program work packages.
- Ensure timely delivery of outputs and outcomes as outlined in the project’s Theory of Change and Results Framework.
- Oversee the integration of CMD curricula into diploma and higher diploma programs across MTCs.
- Coordinate the establishment and operationalization of Centers of Excellence (COEs).
- Partner Communication and Engagement
- Serve as the primary liaison between CHAK, KMTC, KCCB, Amref Health Africa, APHRC, NCD Alliance Kenya, and other stakeholders.
- Facilitate regular partner meetings, ensuring transparent communication and collaborative decision-making.
- Strengthen national, regional, and global collaboration networks.
- Risk Management and Control
- Identify, assess, and monitor program risks in line with the Risk Matrix and Mitigation Measures.
- Implement proactive mitigation strategies to safeguard program delivery.
- Ensure compliance with donor requirements, national policies, and institutional regulations.
- Reporting and Accountability
- Prepare and submit timely progress reports, financial updates, and donor-required documentation.
- Ensure adherence to the Reporting Framework and Responsibility Assignment Matrix (RAM).
- Provide evidence-based updates to the Steering Committee and Novo Nordisk Foundation.
- Overall Project Coordination
- Lead the Project Management Unit (PMU) in day-to-day operations.
- Align program activities with national health and education priorities.
- Ensure gender equity, inclusion, and sustainability are embedded across all program components.
- Foster a culture of research, innovation, and knowledge sharing within MTCs.

Key Responsibilities
- Curriculum Development
- Support the design, review, and integration of inclusive CMD curricula into diploma and higher diploma programs.
- Ensure curricula reflect competency-based education principles and align with national health priorities and regulatory frameworks.
- Incorporate gender-responsive content, equity-focused modules, and locally relevant case studies.
- Medical Pedagogy Institutionalization
- Institutionalize modern medical pedagogy across CHAK MTCs, embedding innovative teaching approaches.
- Build faculty capacity in digital pedagogy, online blended learning, and inclusive teaching methods.
- Promote experiential learning and culturally responsive mentorship practices.
- Simulation-Based Learning
- Lead the integration of simulation-based education into MTC training programs.

- Train faculty and students in simulation methodologies to enhance practical skills and clinical readiness.
- Capacity Strengthening
- Mentor faculty in curriculum design, pedagogy, and simulation techniques.
