Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is inviting applications for several research fellowship opportunities designed to support advanced scientific training and collaborative research. These opportunities involve partnerships with leading international institutions and aim to strengthen research capacity in health sciences. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply for the following positions.
1. PhD Fellowship – KEMRI, Kenya and Oslo, Norway
This fellowship offers an opportunity for doctoral-level research through collaboration between KEMRI and partner institutions in Oslo, Norway. The fellow will participate in cutting-edge research projects aligned with KEMRI’s health research priorities. Responsibilities include conducting scientific investigations, collecting and analyzing research data, preparing reports and publications, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across institutions. The fellow will also contribute to research meetings, project documentation, and dissemination of findings through academic platforms.
2. Postdoctoral Fellowship – KEMRI, Kenya and Oslo, Norway
The Postdoctoral Fellow will support ongoing research initiatives under the KEMRI–Oslo partnership. The role involves designing and implementing advanced research studies, supervising aspects of project activities, analyzing complex datasets, and contributing to scientific publications. The fellow will also collaborate with international research teams, assist in mentoring junior researchers, and support project coordination to ensure research objectives are achieved.
3. PhD Studentship – KEMRI, Kenya and University of Bergen (UiB), Norway
This studentship supports doctoral research conducted jointly by KEMRI and the University of Bergen. The successful candidate will undertake structured research activities, contribute to data collection and analysis, participate in collaborative research discussions, and assist in preparing scientific outputs. The role also includes supporting research documentation and presenting findings during project meetings and academic forums.
4. Postdoctoral Researcher
The Postdoctoral Researcher will work within KEMRI’s research programs, contributing to ongoing studies and scientific initiatives. Responsibilities include planning and executing research tasks, analyzing research data, supporting publication of findings, and collaborating with research teams to advance project goals. The role also involves assisting with research coordination and knowledge dissemination.
