Mombasa County Cruise Ship Program

The Mombasa County Cruise Ship Program is an initiative funded by NGAAF in partnership with Kenya Maritime Authority (KMA), Bandari Maritime Academy/Womesa, and other partners in the blue economy industry.

The program aims to sensitize the youth about the various opportunities available in the cruise ship industry.

Selected candidates will be sponsored for the Standard Training Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) mandatory course.

The Member of Parliament has allocated Kshs. 1.5 Million for training purposes for eligible candidates.

To qualify for the program, individuals must be registered voters residing in Mombasa County, demonstrate strong commitment to the program, be between 22-40 years old, hold a certification in any hospitality/technical course, have a minimum of 2 years of experience in the hospitality and technical field, possess a valid East Africa passport, provide original academic certificates, submit an updated CV with a colored photo on the front page, present a recommendation letter from their employer, provide a valid police clearance certificate, valid COVID certificate, and a yellow fever certificate.

Proficiency in English is required, and knowledge of any foreign language is considered an advantage.

The cruise ship industry offers various opportunities including guest service officers, head butchers, waiters, kitchen stewards, room stewards, pizza makers, bar waiters/bar tenders, IT technicians, plumbers, electricians, AC and refrigerator technicians, buffet attendants, crew cleaners, storekeepers, hotel cleaners, bell boys/bell girls, pool attendants/lifeguards, and cooks/chefs.
