Job Description

Reports to: Manager, Human Capital and Administration

(a)    Duties and Responsibilities

 Duties and responsibility will be to:-

i)                 Drive a motor vehicle as authorized for official duty and assignments;

ii)               Carry out routine checks on the vehicle’s cooling, oil, tyre pressure, electrical and brake systems;

iii)             Maintain records of service and accessories;

iv)              Detect and reporting of malfunctioning of vehicle systems;

v)               Maintain of work tickets for vehicles assigned;

vi)              Report traffic incidents or accidents;

vii)            Ensure security and safety of the vehicle on and off the road;

viii)          Ensure safety of the passengers and/or goods therein; and

ix)              Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle.

Job Specification

(b)    Requirements for Appointment

 For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:-

i)                 A Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade D (plain) or equivalent qualification;

ii)               A current driving license free from current endorsements and valid for all of the classes of vehicles, which the driver is required to drive;

iii)             Attended a First-Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one (1) week obtained at St John Ambulance, or Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized Institution;

iv)              Passed Suitability Test for Driver Grade III;

v)               Passed Occupational Test Grade III;

vi)              Passed  Practical Test for Drivers conducted by Automobile Association (AA) of Kenya or National Transport and Safety Authority or National Youth Service;

vii)            A minimum period of five (5) years driving experience; and

viii)          Proficiency in use of computer applications will be an added advantage.

Successful candidates will be required to submit clearance certificates from the following bodies:
  • Kenya Revenue Authority – (Valid Tax compliance certificate).
  • Directorate of Criminal Investigations – (Certificate of good conduct)
  • Higher Education Loans Board – (Compliance certificate, where applicable)
  • Ethics and Anti – Corruption Commission – (Self-Declaration form)
  • Credit Reference Bureau – (Certificate of clearance or credit report)
