KEMRI Hiring Community Interviewer

The Kenya Medical Research Institute in collaboration with partners, carries out research in Malaria, HIV, TB and other diseases. HIV-Research Division in partnership with WHO intend to undertake a study to evaluate the Samba II HIV-1 Semi-Q whole blood Test for WHO Prequalification Assessment. The study has below vacancy.

a) Job Descriptions

The duties and responsibilities of the officer will entail: –
 Recruitment of study participants
 Consent study participants
 Perform finger prick procedures and testing using rapid test device
 Complete study forms accurately and completely
 Data entry onto logbooks, diaries and computer
 Organize collected data and perform simple analysis
 Communicate field matters to supervisor
 Attend study meetings and report on progress of work
 Perform any other duties assigned or delegated by the study management.

b) Person Specifications

 Be a holder of KCSE mean grade D+ and above or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
 Have certificate in HIV Testing Services (HTS);
 Must be resident of the study area-Kisumu County;
 Be fluent in both written and oral English & Swahili languages;
 Proficiency in computer application.

iii. Interpersonal Skills
iv. Team player

Terms of employment:

This is a Five (5) months Fixed term contract with a probation period for the first 3 months. Salary is as per the stated scale and applicable scheme of service.
