Ol Pejeta Conservancy (“Ol Pejeta”) is a globally renowned wildlife conservancy in Kenya, committed to the preservation of endangered species and the sustainable management of natural resources. Home to the last two northern white rhinos on Earth, a thriving population of critically endangered eastern black rhinos, and a sanctuary for rescued chimpanzees, Ol Pejeta is a leader in conservation efforts. We also manage a highly successful livestock program and work with neighboring communities to support education, healthcare, and infrastructure development.

We are seeking a dedicated and results-oriented Supply Chain Officer to join our team and contribute to our mission of wildlife conservation and community empowerment.

Position Overview

Position: Supply Chain Officer

Department: Shared Services – Supply Chain
Reports to: Manager, Supply Chain
Location: Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Nanyuki, Kenya
Closing Date: Friday, 31st January 2025

The Supply Chain Officer will ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the supply chain function to support Ol Pejeta’s conservation activities. This includes maintaining optimal procurement processes, inventory management, logistics coordination, vendor relations, and compliance with organizational policies and regulations.


Key Responsibilities

1. Procurement

  • Manage timely processing of orders, shipment tracking, and status updates.
  • Ensure goods and services are delivered on time and within budget.

2. Inventory Management

  • Collaborate with the Senior Stores Officer to optimize inventory levels.
  • Monitor inventory usage and order replenishments as needed.

3. Transport and Logistics

  • Coordinate with the Shared Services Coordinator to ensure the timely transport and delivery of supplies and equipment to field sites and other locations.
  • Arrange transportation, manage customs clearance, and ensure cost-effective delivery.

4. Vendor Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to secure high-quality goods and services at competitive prices.
  • Monitor supplier performance and provide periodic reports to the Supply Chain Manager and Head of Shared Services.

5. Cost Control

  • Monitor supply chain expenses and identify opportunities for cost savings.
  • Implement measures to reduce operational costs while maintaining efficiency.

6. Compliance

  • Ensure all supply chain activities adhere to relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
  • Verify that suppliers and contractors meet organizational standards.

7. Reporting

  • Generate and share reports on supply chain activities, including requisition and purchase order status, cost analysis, performance metrics, and risk assessments.

8. Performance Measurement

  • Assist in developing and implementing key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of supply chain processes.

9. Issue Resolution

  • Identify and assist in resolving supply chain bottlenecks and emerging issues in collaboration with the Supply Chain Manager.

10. Other Duties

  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Supply Chain Manager.

Qualifications and Skills

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Membership in the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM) with CIPS certification.

Experience:

  • At least three years of experience in supply chain management, procurement management, or related fields.

Skills:

  • Strong negotiation and influencing abilities.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Infor SunSystems) or related software.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple programs concurrently.
  • Results-oriented with a proactive and adaptable attitude.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
