Position Overview
The Graphic Design Intern will support the United Nations Human Settlements Programme by contributing to visual communication and design-related activities. The internship provides an opportunity to apply academic knowledge in a professional environment while supporting communication products, publications, presentations, digital content, and other visual materials developed by the organization.
The position is intended for individuals with a strong interest in graphic design and visual communication who wish to gain practical experience within an international development organization.
Key Responsibilities
The successful intern will support graphic design and communication-related activities, including:
- Assisting in the creation of visual communication materials.
- Supporting the design and production of graphics for publications and reports.
- Contributing to the development of digital media and visual content.
- Assisting in the preparation of presentation materials and communication products.
- Supporting branding and layout work for various organizational initiatives.
- Collaborating with team members on graphic design assignments.
- Assisting with other communication and design-related tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements at the time of application:
- Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
- Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (Bachelor’s level or equivalent).
- Have graduated with a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, PhD, or equivalent qualification.
Applicants should also:
- Be computer literate in standard software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrate a keen interest in the work of the United Nations.
- Show personal commitment to the ideals and principles of the United Nations Charter.
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with individuals from different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, including respect for differing opinions and perspectives.
Preferred Areas of Study
Applicants should be pursuing or have completed studies in one of the following areas:
- Graphic Design
- Visual Communication
- Visual Arts
- Fine Arts
- Digital Media
- Architecture
- Related fields
Professional work experience is not required for this internship. However, applicants must have a field of study closely related to the internship.
Applicants will also be required to indicate which eligibility criterion they meet and provide supporting documentation during the application process. Official academic certification may be requested at a later stage.
Experience in graphic design and communication is considered desirable.
Language Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Fluency in both written and spoken English.
Knowledge of another official United Nations language is considered an added advantage.
