This role as a Programme Assistant in Nairobi, under the International Trade Centre (ITC), offers an exciting opportunity to work within the Women, Youth and Vulnerable Communities (WYVC) and Ethical Fashion Initiative (EFI) programs. These initiatives aim to empower marginalized communities, particularly women and youth, by integrating them into the international fashion value chain. Below is an overview and key considerations for the role:

Key Responsibilities

  1. Administrative Coordination:
    • Manage project implementation activities such as travel, training, payments, procurement, and disbursement of funds.
    • Serve as the focal point for liaising with organizational units to ensure smooth operations.
  2. Procurement and Financial Management:
    • Support procurement processes, including obtaining quotes and managing payments.
    • Collaborate with UNDP Kenya on financial authorizations.
  3. Reporting and Documentation:
    • Compile, summarize, and analyze project data to identify shortfalls and budget overruns.
    • Draft correspondence, update periodic reports, and maintain project documentation.
  4. General Office Assistance:
    • Organize meetings and workshops, respond to information requests, and manage routine administrative tasks.
  5. Compliance with Intellectual Property:
    • Ensure permissions and licenses for intellectual property rights and accreditation for events are obtained as needed.

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Secondary school education is required.
    • An additional professional diploma in administration or a related field is desirable.
  • Experience:
    • A minimum of 5 years of experience in general administrative services or related fields.
    • Prior experience working for the United Nations, including familiarity with UN administrative tools and procedures, is highly desirable.
  • Skills:
    • Strong administrative and organizational skills, including familiarity with procurement and financial processes.
    • Proficiency in project documentation and reporting.

Languages

Proficiency in English is essential. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly relevant to Kenya or the region, is advantageous
